This looks great. Unfortunately, the 2017 iMac I purchased 4.5 years ago is not compatible. That seems to be an unusually short lifespan for a computer these days.

Any changes to Finder ? screen snapping ?

Hi Gary! Thank you for all the tips and amazing videos. I hope you can help me with this question. I have a MacBook Pro 15 2017 and although Apple says it will not support macOS Sonoma, when I click on software update and then beta update I can see both beta profiles: Ventura and Sonoma. I am afraid to select Sonoma and mess up with my computer. The thing is I thought it would not even show up since it's not supported. Comments? Thanks

I wish they made a profile for whole system and tags that do not appear in another user even when using one apple id 🤷🏽‍♂️

It's a small feature, but I really like that Notes is getting what seems to be a collapsing sections feature within each note. I use notes for my Korean language learning, and being able to collapse grammar types and such will make navigation and review so much easier.

Why is Mac trying to look like windows. Could do something about why my CD,s that I purchased years ago won’t play on iphone

  7. This so depressing. Screen savers, widgets, safari update; this constitutes an OS update?

I really miss Bertrand Serlet, and his focus on substance like code efficiency, stability and snow leopard.

Hi Gary and thank you for your fantastic videos, they are incredible informative and easy to understand. Do we have any indication from Apple, what software we are to lose by updating to Sonoma. I ask as I have been caught out so many times over the years, “doing the right thing” and updating only to realise that in doing so completely lost functionality or use of software that I had relied upon. Apple obviously isn’t alone here, as Windows is also guilty of this. It just seems wrong that we, as consumers, pay for software, become reliant on it only to be locked out or similar due to an OS update. I have had this most regularly with iOS, but also with MacOS. Your thoughts, insights, or warnings would be greatly appreciated.

    ▪ Re Safari Profiles for windows and privacy. Why not just use Private windows other than Tab Groups don’t work with them? Having a different Space for each profile can help with keeping them separate.
    ▪ Larger font size by app may be a nice feature. Accessibility Zoom and Accessibility Hover Text also quite useful even if not visually challenged as Hover Text provides more info, otherwise not shown (especially slider control bars).
    ▪ The bigger issue is when will my 'new' computer be deemed unsupported. I bought it new in 2020, but it is tagged as a 2018 model year; and may be on the chopping block by 2024/25. Pretty young in my mind. I would be fine with security only updates, but that will be short lived, I suspect.
    ▪ I know people love all the new tech. Guess I’m old fashioned. Just want the basics to work more simply with a keyboard and without annoying bugs. Wish Spaces would work without acting like a ping pong ball. Wish Quicklook and Pages could read MSWord documents without buggering them. Wish I could import 20 year old Excel documents and they would be supported in Numbers. Wish I could write files to my NTFS formatted drive—download worked great but cannot upload. Wish I could print with my old printer. Wish my mac would not run out of breath and slow down every week. Once tired, wish it would reboot reliably. I have a long wish list and it’s not for new fluff— it’s to fix all the gaffs in the old stuff so it’s easier to live with.

Back when we still had Steve, I so looked forward to any and all updates! Anymore I don't even care, they happen, and I never even notice a difference. Bet we can blame "work from home", where nothing gets done. I stayed 4 minutes, and nothing!!!

Useless boloni. This would be a minor monthly update on window.

Profile is a very useful feature for me because I have a lot of different stuffs I look up for different jobs I do and different interest I have.

how about stability? its worth to update on my only Macbook air 2022?

IIRC, Safari can also run locally written Python scripts. Would these adjustments essentially mimic Python being tunable as a stand alone.

Y'know, I remember these features being present 30 years ago in X-Windows on top of a dozen Unix flavors. Think Irix (SGI), for example. And there were many others that the CDE and other desktops GUIs ran on. I'm embarrassed for Apple.

Thank you for this sneak peek!
Profiles in Safari and links between notes – it's REALLY cool. The rest looks like the small quality of life improvements.

Good video, I appreciate the time you've spent learning & presenting this information….I'm happy because I'll never use any of this stuff until in a couple of years I'll ask if you've a video re Aerial Wallpapers & you'll point me in the right direction! 👍😊

For someone that has three virtual Desktops, does the widgets only display in one desktop or on all? If for all, I think that's deal breaker for me.
