I hope they make new gen batteries so that the performance can be sustained even if its unplugged. Everything keeps getting ridiculously faster but the screen on time is the department everyone is leaving out

i'm highly debating getting an i7 12600k or a i9 12900k, but they are so close in performance. But my main thing is the temperatures! I see the stats for how it uses more watts but how hot is the i9 if i'm not 3D rendering? How hot is it at idle?

You are testing the wrong cpu ,the 12th Gen intel uses to much power to compare to a macbook, it's a desktop replacement, its not what people are after anymore i fear,…in a laptop the 6900hs is the way to go, in a desktop, where it doesn't matter how much juice you need, the 12900 and a 3080 or 90 make the surface a’ why is this taking so long’ experience.
Something like a zephyrus g14,… 6900hs is only a bit slower than the intel but i guess faster than the m1pro, and is happy with 45 watt without falling back noticeable, that means more power for the gpu or, as the integrated gpu got a big boost, only running the dedicated gpu when you really need it,…
On your meeting days or visting clients you have a quite, handy laptop that lasts the day with ease, but if needed, and certainly on wallpower you have a rendering and simulation beast,.. with a big ultrawide, keyboard, decent mouse and spacemouse, probably a drawing tablet or a tablet s8 ultra, 3d worki should be great,

Speed per watt is the megic thing

  5. ImpactSpace

seriously i dont care. the overall package is what countd and here the MBP dominates them all

  6. Aarushan Shankar

The M1 Max would EASILY beat the Alder Lake if it didn't care about power consumption or efficiency

  7. Lasse Berg

hahaha, well is you can always be selective on benchmarks 🙂

At 2:44 your graph is all messed up. The bars shown do not represent 1775 vs 1855. The bars would be very similar if the graph were accurate.

  9. Huzaifa Savage

That intel laptop is a desktop replacement. Where as the mac is a daily carrier

  10. Tiro Mandal

All Apple has over Intel/AMD is just power efficiency and nothing else and that's all what the iShills brag about all day long! Ofcourse they know nothing apart from light works like browsing, coding, media consumption and some video editing! Come on you shills do something better than "IT'S POWER EFFICIENT" for once! Ants are way more POWER EFFICIENT than Humans so by y'alls logic Ants must be superior to Humans?! It's a good thing that apart from the US almost no one else in the world uses Apple. Yea surprising right? There's more than one country out there!

Nobody can afford these computers and those who can afford them have no time to play games? Gamers are not very well off to begin with

  12. felipe367

so intel manages to get some interesting numbers on a laptop whilst using up to 4 times the power as an m1 device. …

  13. Raist3db

Why don't you compare the performance with the Intel laptop unplugged? The Mac doesn't suffer performance- it's what you buy a laptop for. How's the Alder performing un-plugged?

  14. godsakes

I'm glad that intel are upping their game but sorry the performance for the power consumption is so heavily in favour of the Mac for a laptop/portable use case the m1 chip is a no brainer

  15. grzegorz_

It's amazing – i suspected that Intel won't be able to compete for years, that it'll be behind Ryzen and M1 but they catched up really, really quickly.

For mobility Mac is obvious winner (however, pandemy made this a little bit less important 🙁 – before pandemy i would dream of having laptop with 20 hours battery – now i don't care, i prefer desktop),
but if you want to have total freedom of choosing any software you like (and not limiting yourself to the only ones that are optimized ie. Blender), gaming or / and 3d rendering then intel with nvidia is the obvious choice.

  16. Trade Hut

They should have made the RAM 32 GB. Such a high performance laptop is obviously meant for graphic designers and video editors and 16 GB doesn't make a shred of sense.
