did he call it an "iMac?"
Apple Stupido Display
Don't you think about the price difference between those two!
no its not worth 1600 becouse you can still buy better monitors by 1600😂😂
Great review again. You’re my go-to place for Apple reviews. I’ve read that the StudioDisplay doesn’t work well with Windows laptops as you’re not able to adjust settings? It seems that you can only change settings with a macOS computer connected. That would be a big downside for me, as I would also use it for both work (Windows) and personal use (macbook). Can you confirm this?
What is your opinion guys, I just bought the LG 5k 34 inch UW monitor but its still in delivery, should I decline it and buy the apple display? or is the LG 5k ultrawide monitor comparable?
Comparing 5y old LG display with overpriced Apple one 😀 Sorry, but Apple display here is a bad deal, unless you really go for the looks.
Thanks!
Stop equating volume to sound quality. The LG is louder because it sounds worse. It's easy to make a loud speaker, hard to make a good speaker.
@Max Tech. Were you using the latest SW for Mac and Display for this test?
Sooo….. Apple made a monitor a bit better then 6 year old LG.
WOW
So no real HDR, 60 Hz, terrible ergonomics with stands you can't change, a power cord you're not supposed to remove and an awful looking webcam on a monitor costing that much?
Sorry, what??
Has anyone tried the Dell UltraSharp 27 4K USB-C Hub Monitor – U2723QE, with IPS Black Technology? In terms of color range and contrast, I would expect it to be a whole level above these two displays.
$1600? Overpriced. 27”, only 60hz, no HDR, just 600 nits, no mini-LED like iPad Pro. Even worse with tax it’s $2000 in Sweden.
On your side by side, one of them is not calibrated or calibrated differently. So kind of hard to compare images. They are not matching and it is wasy to see in your video.
What is a better value based on it features and for its intended audience – Pro Display XDR ($4700) vs Studio Display ($1500) – best price online listed. Please make that video ASAP!!!
how is that a good deal you can get a 27in Imac for cheaper
The answer is its an apple product so no its not
Lol the Video at 7:40 is from Zürich Switzerland. XD Nice!
Thins think cost more than my pc and my brother pc at the same time
If you're paying for your own gear Apple is a ripoff..plain and simple. I looked at the Mac pro prices today and it was just ridiculous. Triple the price of a similarly specced PC.
Is the "wobbly stand" included with the LG for free or do you have to pay extra for it?
Mac Tech good job 😀
I can't wait for LG to release something new to blow the studio display away. The fact that a 6-year-old monitor is keeping up with the studio display is more impressive to me.
Money waste
For 1600 you can get single backlight apple 27 inch monitor….for 1300 you can get a 34 inch ultrawide QD OLED HDR 1000 monitor :|. Yes, I know they are for completely different target audiences, but you are paying more for a lessor technology. It is such a horrible value. They essentially took the 27 inch iMac computer, took out most of the computing components, and charged you the same, if not more. "BuT i'M a ConTenT CrEaToR" then you should get the pro display XDR. There are so many other monitors that are better for cheaper for content creation. If you are buying this monitor for any other reason than the aesthetic, then you are lying to yourself.
dnt forget you comparing 2018 to 2020 so it still a win for LG
Can the studio display work without being attached to a Mac?
It has an iPhone 11 SoC & 64GB of Storage.
Does it have Bluetooth & WiFi?
Can it run iPadOS?
Are you really comparing a 6 years old panel with a new one….?…that's plain stupid, the panels degrades with time, so yes it would be differences… 🤷🏼♂️
@ 2:55 Max referring to the Studio Display as an "iMac" made me chuckle…and cry…Apple really does need to bring back the 27" iMac!
forget about the 15 minutos…the answer is NO!
ill buy anything over the apple variant ANYDAY! Crapple is fucking GAWBAGEE!!!
LG's old webcam looked better.
The monitor is placed on a stable desk, not a rocking train, so it's not gonna wobble like that in real life.
the mac displays speaker are really good for normal works and even some proffesional music!
I think I was right. The studio display was supposed to be the 27 inch iMac. I found out from an ifixit video that the display has 2 coolers inside… to cool an A13 Bionic 😂
so yeah, I really think I nailed it. The studio display should have been the 27 inch iMac but they were not able to cool the M1 max/ultra to a point where it was working ok without having a lot of noise
Another Apple product that Apple Fans has to pay a high Apple Tax.
No it is NOT worth it !!!
For me, 60hz for that kind of money is just completely unacceptable in 2022. I wouldn't even buy a 60hz display for $500. Let alone a non-removable power cable…wtf??? Both displays are old tech and for $1000+ you can get much better displays nowadays that have way more features like high refresh rates, Quantum Dot, OLED, HDR with 1000+ nits brightness, ultrawide, miniLED, etc. I'm obviously not the intended customer for this type of product but if I'm paying $1500+ for a display in 2022 I'd expect to be getting cutting edge tech.
Also I struggle to comprehend why speaker quality on a monitor matters? No person who cares about audio quality would rely on built-in speakers. Even the best ones would easily be outclassed by a cheap $30 dedicated speaker setup from Office Depot.
No this ain't even hdr1000. Pass
I agree, you do pay for the build quality of Apple Products. But, WHY DO YOU NEED BUILD QUALITY THAT'S SUPERIOR TO A 200-300$ CHEAPER MONITOR? I MEAN YOU INTERACT WITH THE DISPLAY PANEL AND NOT THE BUILD QUALITY!
There goes the Apple Fanboys screaming OMG APPLE IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN WINDOWS, ANDROID, AND ALL OTHER SUBRANDS THEY HAVE?!
So like all Apple stuff, excellent shell, slightly better in other areas and stupid high price tag.
What am I missing at 8:02? The LG looks much better to me? The mountainside nearest is just black on the Studio but on the LG, I see some detail? For reference, I am watching this on a 27" 5K iMac 2019 model.
Buy the new Samsung for $600. It looks exactly as the apple monitor
I would love to see a comparison between Studio Display and Thunderbolt Display. They are very similar in design
wouldnt be funny if lg made the panels for the apple display
