    Thanks Brian 😀
Oooow that flash drive is really chuffing, shame a p.c can't boot from it as a usb stick, or can it?, does the evil Uefi bios allow that hmmmm. 🙂
    Superspeed P.E diag boot up.

  3. I thought of a good idea on a video " How to make your own network rack cabinet " I find doing this a lot more fun then building your own computer . You can install firewalls, switches, and power equipment all in one unit. Cool you can do the same thing a with a SSD drive. What you are making would be good for ISO installs , running portable apps or a Linux repair dive. Bye for now Cheers

Hi Brian thanks for another great video, is there a enclosure for Samsung 960 sdd.

Today's most modern motherboards Asus do they take USB 3.1?
    Thanks Brain 👍👍👍👍👍😊

  5. Darrell Hylton

nice vid wish I had modern USB but I'm still on 2.0 BTW I added your channel to my featured channels on my channel

Hi Britec, may i ask something please. Just did a test on my acer computer (thanks for the SSD upgrade idea works a treat, samsung 850)

Three tests on different drives selected come back as:
    C: SSD = 283/270
    F: SATA hard drive = 283/270
    E: External 2tb through USB2 = 283/270

… why arent they different please?

    ///

    update: did an online benchmark

C: SSD = 240/230 Also my motherboard cant handle sata3 port, so limited to 285mb 🙁 still faster than windows was
    F: Sata hard drive = 75/75
    E: external 2tb = 28/19

more like it LOL I know my computers slow ill upgrade at some point

    Hi Brian,

    Q. I have some flash drives given by companies as a give away but i have struggled to wipe and format them… Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

  8. Lol Britec09, and now I got yet another side project, just by clicking on your video, well actually two, because on amazon i saw a 2.5 drive bay with space for two M.2 drives, i figure I will put into my girl's laptop and build one of these bad boys in the video that can fir in my shirt pocket that fast. thx mate! great idea, i will def go and build.

  9. rolf sinkgraven

A very good idea i'll keep it in mind in case my rescue flash drive gets bad vibes 🙂

Thank you Brian for a very informative video. Would like to say also that I am a long time subscriber to your channel because I believe you are very credible. I recently watched a video from Carey Holzman, the only other computer channel I subscribe to. First I would like to say that Carey has NEVER said anything derogatory regarding your channel, and in fact, recommends your channel as very good. I think you both have differing opinions regarding Windows licensing keys, which is okay. We don't all have to agree on everything and I think we can respect each other's opinions. You both have great channels and I respect you both. keep up the great work and thank you for all the information you give us.

For a cheaper and slightly less pocketable version, a 2.5" SSD in a drive case would be an option, the 120GB SSD can be picked up for about £20 or a bit less on offer (£27.49 for a 240GB), while the case can be picked up for under a fiver on ebay (make sure it says USB3)

  12. Darren Burke

Wicked Video Brian, Thank You and Happy New Year Mate

  13. WelshTony1

Great Video Brian, funny enough this is something iv been thinking about doing. Also Sabret gear is brilliant stuff. I got loads of different Sabret stuff and they all work really well.

  14. mdavid1955

    Very cool!
Do they make a USB enclosure for the Samsung EVO M.2 drives as well?

  15. Robert Keenan

Thanks Brian, Will stop me from buying anymore USB Thumb Drives and just build one like this.

  16. Oliver Chapman

    Great video Brian.👍

I have a Samsung T5 Drive there very quick.

Your video has given me an idea to make my self a second portable SSD as I have a spare 2.5 drive not being used. just need to get an enclosure.

Can you recommend a good book about command prompt for windows 10?

I could with one for quick reference as my memory is not good

  17. Fenix1861

This is fast, but being SATA it is limited to the 6 Gbps MAX. USB 3.1 Gen 2 is 10 and Gen 1 is only 5 so not much loss for the interface type. If you need FAST, there are NVMe enclosures that connect via Thunderbolt 3 which is rated at 40 Gbps. Of course the one I saw was $1000 USD, so definitely NOT cheap.

The real bonus as far as I am concerned for this is that you can make ANY SATA M.2 drive into a flash drive which means you can get a 2TB flash drive for little more than the cost of the drive AND you can interchange the drive inside the enclosure giving you multiple “flash” drives with a single enclosure.

  18. Phil Dawson

Hey big bri. What I do is buy a cheap 500gb 2.5 HDD off ebay. Then I buy these fantastic usb3.0 super speed enclosure off ebay to. I can make a 500gb super speed usb3.0 HDD plug and play for about 12 pounds if I get the right price on the 500gb. Write speeds are about 100-110 mbs read speeds about the same or higher

  19. MrToM

15:26 Interesting. How are you testing the 256GB Adata/Sabrent when the 128GB Sandisk is selected in CrytalDiskMark?

  20. f23948

Is it available in store beside Amazon? im here in USA

  21. bison345

Another great video Brian, thanks, Don.

  22. Brian Leary

I always look forward to you vids Brian. New and stuff I'd no idea I needed!!! Keep on going and thanks

  23. TRUTH SEEKER

But dosen`t flash drives have a pretty high failure rate ??

  24. TRUTH SEEKER

Very interesting video Britec thank you for everything you share with us :)))

  25. Khan1 Khan1

I tried to make bootable USB using command prompt.but it has turned into raw from ntfs.now it's not working.l

  26. De Rock

Yeah it's really nice and better than a thumb drive, but my problem is, they should have done it type c instead of type a usb.

  27. Stephen Little

Sorry as an old computer guy. You were very wishy washy. The unit is universal for all different types of memory sizes and notches. What a hard job you made of it.
Please get back to the stuff I know you know.

  28. Lotusrk123

When Radio Shack went under I picked up an external SATA HDD case, cable and power supply for $5, threw in an old 50 GB SATA laying around and had my ext-HD for computer repair.

  29. Michael Cruz

Hi, great video, can you please tell me where I can safely download the software you used to test the speed of the flash drive, thanks

  30. Patrick McDonald

Hi Brian nice new year video to break us into 2019 I have done this a few times with my used ssd kit and now I'm going to take the .my m.2 drive out of my gaming laptop and do this now cheers

  31. Lotusrk123

I purchased a SATA or IDE (44 pin) USB adapter off Ebay for cheap that comes with power supply PLUS allows any hard drive to be used as an external, USB HD OR I can hook directly to the motherboard to create a boot-able disk. Handy!

  32. WellBeSerious12

Misleading read/write test on both, especially the M.2 drive. 160-170 write on M.2 versus 110 write on Flash. Completely different from benchmarks. And of course USB speeds vary depending on the system (like CPU). One idea for a video, USB speeds depending on the CPU platform, RAM, and other differences.

  33. Dottie

Built one and it runs great! I did need to format mine and it got a bit warm, but works great.

  34. Sasha

Can i use it for bootable ISOs
