Big Data analytics is a process used to extract meaningful insights, such as hidden patterns, unknown correlations, market trends, and customer preferences. Big Data analytics provides various advantages—it can be used for better decision making, preventing fraudulent activities, among other things. Data also exists in different formats, like structured data, semi-structured data, and unstructured data. For example, in a regular Excel sheet, data is classified as structured data—with a definite format. In contrast, emails fall under semi-structured, and your pictures and videos fall under unstructured data. All this data combined makes up Big Data. First, let’s try and understand Descriptive analytics. It includes processing past and present datasets which will lead to help in trend analysis.
In predictive analytics, it makes future predictions based on past or historical datasets which will help in decision making.
The diagnostic analysis is an advanced analysis in which introspection is made based on “ Why did this happen?” and further decisions are taken based on the available datasets.
Prescriptive analytics is the process of using data to determine an optimal course of action.
Apache Hadoop is the most famous tool. It is the open-source software utility to store and process gigabytes and terabytes of datasets. It uses the MapReduce programming module to solve problems of analyzing massive data. Tableau is a software company that offers collaborative data visualization software for organizations working with business information analytics. Organizations use Tableau to visualize data and reveal patterns for analysis in business intelligence, making the data more understandable. Apache Cassandra is a highly scalable, high-performance distributed database designed to handle large amounts of data across many commodity servers, providing high availability with no single point of failure. It is a type of NoSQL database.
