As usual Alienware dropping the ball. On the M18/M16, the best memory option is 4800mhz DDR5 when competition offers 5800mhz! Also why put the SD card reader at the back and the ethernet jack at the side?! They got it all backwards! You know the stiffest cable, ethernet would be nice to have it out of the way at the back, and the SD cards you swap all the time, at the side. On the X16, the headphone jack at the back, really, now we have to route it all the way forward when using a headsets lol. And if the cable is short good luck and hunch over quasimodo. Are the screens IPS? Or do they have some mini led? Seems ASUS and Razer horded all the nice 18 inch screens.

I read something about new XMG gaming laptop at CES 2023. On their website (for the NEO) pricing is already disclosed, like 3200€ for 4080 and 3850€ for 4090.
It seems to me lower than last year… Would you agree?
And are planning on making a video about those?

If you can notice the pixels @ 1080p on 17", then you can definitely notice them on a 24" one. I don't see a point in going for a higher resolution on laptops…

Interested in buying a laptop this year, can't wait for your reviews of the alienware.

Thx Jarrod bro, great video. Do you think it's the end of 15.6 inch 16:9 laptops ?

  6. KuilowKey

I am still using a 2019 M17 R5. GTX 1070, i7 8750 and 16GB. Got it running fine on W11 and still chugs well at 1080p gaming, still plenty of power for modeling and video editing. Really liking the 18 inch, as mine with some peripherals and a monitor is my whole setup.

Fun fact: the i7-13620H in the X14 is Alder-Lake based. It has no improvements over the i7-12700H besides clocks.

Edit: I checked Ark, it’s not shown what the L2 cache is so I can’t verify what’s Alder Lake and what’s Raptor Lake.

Will the M15 R3 be compatible with the new AWCC?

  9. Chris Ramos

Hey Jarrod! I will be migrating to Australia this Q2, NSW, where I can find good deals or stores that caters gaming laptops? i will be selling my Legion 7 here in Philippines so I can travel light. Thank you!

i hope they don't waste their massive gpu boost by not offering 4k screen options

2022 Alienware laptops: 12th gen Intel inside, outside designed by a 12 year-old kid.

2023 Alienware laptops: 13th gen Intel inside, outside designed by a 13 year-old kid (still the same kid, just one year older now).

I can not think of another explanation for the absolutely gaudy look of these things. I've never seen more hideous laptops than alienware.

Thank god (and I'm saying this as an atheist) that Asus ROG exists and makes gaming laptops with the kind of design that doesn't make you feel ashamed to take it with you someplace other than your home (which is like, the whole point of a laptop) when you reach the age at which you're actually able to buy such a machine with your own money.

I always like alienware asthetics, I hope this year their cooling is better

i would love to see difference between normal and 330w GaN small factor charging adaptors mentioned at 4:31

I would not touch anything manufactured by Dell or one of their subsidiary brands with a 10 foot pole. Over the last 11 months, I have had three different Alienware laptops and they failed so badly that dell purchased back each one even though I had them for roughly 100 days each. They are great when they are working but the liability is absolute trash. I am about to mail back my max spec m17 r5 which was preceded by an x17 r1 and x17 r2. Meanwhile, my $975 2016 Lenovo y700 gaming laptop works and sounds better than the $4k plus Alienware Machines.

    Very very good video!

    My comments:
    – FHD 480Hz is just too much for a laptop, competitive e-sport gamers don't really use a laptop in competitions anyway, they bring their own PC or use an external monitor.
    – I don't mind soldered on-board RAM. I don't think we need to go 48 or 64GB in 4-5 years. But, if they force people to get Core-i9 just for 32GB, then this X-series is gonna suck.
    – I really like the way they take for G15, a better-looking design and allow people to play with new colors! Instead of Black, Grey, and White, just like every other laptop. This is something I would buy for my kids (the problem is I am still single 🤣)

  16. Teddy M

It's so close, but 300 nits and no HDR completely kills any interest for me. Who else?

  17. Teddy M

Also shocked at the FOUR gen 1 ports. WTF? It's 2023 DELL!

  18. verglas1992

I can't wait for you to make a full review on the m18. I hope to buy one this year!

  19. Pushkar

Hey! Nice video brother btw does the Dell G16 has two PCIe slots now for upgradability? It kinda stopped me buying it last year so if it does I am gonna upgrade otherwise meh I'll pick up a Legion.

  20. LongPlay 4K

another question. you said a new version of awcc is out, but i downloaded the latest version from the website and there is only version 5.5.35 of December 22. where is version 6?

  21. According To Me

Hi Jarrod. As soon as you receive a rtx 4060 laptop unit do compare it with rtx 3070/70ti laptop.

  22. nowew owkelw

    these alienware laptops are flawed.

these are desktop replacements but the main cooling vent is covered when the screen is closed.
meaning you must keep the screen open when connected to dock/external display.

  23. BITS2

Looks like my first "gaming" laptop will be G16 with 13650/13700 and 4070, if pricing is OK like on previous models ofcourse…

  24. Ali Muhammed

is the AWCC for 2022 laptops also or only for the new one?

  25. cm _lover

Definitely be getting the TOP TIER gaming laptop this year coz I've been setting aside money since 2019 so budget is not a problem 😂, just couldn't decide between MSI/ASUS/LENOVO 😴

  26. Timmy Tech

The pixels are not stretched out. It's just more pixels. If you are fine with the 1080p 17'' inches, you will be fine with 1200p 18''' inches.

  27. Timmy Tech

Its a shame that the thermals on Alienware laptops are just horrible. I hope they are not using flipped motherboard design.

  28. Juicy Girls

No 4k uhd in 3k $ 18 inch laptop?, alsobthose 4800 mhz for ram, any improvementa here ?? Cmon alienware, what is this bullshit

  29. AshS

    330W power adapter, wow.
