Yeah, would love to see some sort of active cooling with this shell. Results may make me take the plunge
This is what Iโve always wanted ๐ข
I wonder how long will it take for some one to design custom back cover with custom battery slots so you can use AA or 18650 batteries? ๐ So it would work just like Gameboy on steroids ๐
For only $30 bucks I'd snag one ASAP but I'd like to see a front-shell as well.
You gotta try the Thermoelectric Coolers with this shell to see if it makes a difference
Dang, I might have to sell my Killswitch
I think it would be effective to attach a cooler to that aluminum plate, could you check it?
I want this now that they removed the giant logo.
I bet if you embeedded the pastic with something that started to produce black body radiation when it gets about 40c that it would cool even better
test it with the tec fan that you tested
please do the cooler video again with this case ๐
Frankly, I'm shocked you didn't try one of those peltier coolers in this video. I think testing them would be a no-brainer.
I'm definitely planning on buying this, but one thing I can hope for is if jsaux makes colored transparent shells live the N64.
Does it still fit in the carrying case with the taller paddles on it?
so question, i kinda have small hands and pushing the back buttons its extremly uncomfitable, which of those that they provide would be good to use? the low or high?
The only thing it lacks is some room and connectivity for a full sized NVME ๐
I wish it was crystal clear Iโve been looking for one
If that metal square is magnetic, someone could make a low profile, USB powered cooler and fan to stick on there. ๐ค
naisu
Would this work with one of those magnetic external coolers e.g. the Razer phone cooler Chroma?
Please test with the external coolers! I bought the same shell days ago and just awaiting delivery. Seeing a lot of 3d printed glow in the dark buttons also looks nice. Thanks for the content!
Wanna see it with the coolers. Thinking about doing that combo
With the back with the engraving reminds me of the metal badge alienware used to put on their notebooks
Does it still fit inside the stock carrying case with new back buttons?
The temperature drop could be caused by a drop in 10 fps from 50 to 40.
So this test is not conclusive.
You need to investigate first why there are any performance drop and frequency up at the same time.
Changing to this case to have worse performance is not worth It.
Edit: could be a performance drop due tdp limitation. Now the CPU is taking more watts from the GPU and the overall performance is less. GPU went from 9 to 8 watts.
Quick question: does it seem like the heat plate might be able to be removed without damaging the shell?
Cool – Hope this comes to Europe too ๐
Test this Backplate with the little Cooler from your last video. I think with this Plate in the Plate and the little Cooler it should be a cooling Effect. ๐ค
I order this too and it comes in around a few days. And I think about testing this with the little cooler.
This shell with the thermo electric cooler would be a great combo.
Test out the the thermoelectric coolers with this.
Thanks for showing fanspeed and clocks through gamescope this time. That fanspeed drop is massive, and gpu clocks throttle way less as well. Didn't expect such a huge difference.
HI ETA, great video to follow ๐ up on the steam, Question: now we have an aluminum block to help extract heat from the APU, can we place our small thermoelectric cooler from last video on cooling the steam deck?
well, thatโs only half the fun ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
How's the fit in the steamdeck carry case with the custom triggers?
PLEASE PUT thouse cooler fans on this back and try them again
You aren't using the same backdrop for the thermal tests… The framerate is nearly 10fps lower.
You should have used a built in benchmark as that's why they are there….
When I saw your video on the thermoelectric coolers I naturally thought you'd be making a video testing out this backplate with those coolers.
ordered, looks so cool! I want to see faceplates soon though, mine took a knock and a perfect hairline crack has appeared across the top of it ๐
the one thing I don't get:
everyone's shallow fascination with mirror polished things (especially gold) and transparent covers.
transparent covers are not clean at all, especially if the PCB is shit. I will admit the SD internals are decent, but still…. at least the case is "blurred".
