    This is great. I'd like to know why MS doesn't enable this by default. I clean so many PC's for people that have hundreds of PUPs. I may start to incorporate this into their Defender settings.

    Hi Britec09,

    I've had this problem for a few months and maybe you are able to help me, cause I am at the end of my rope.

    I have a Windows 10 Pro system and occassionally it randomly shuts down or freezes, what the eventviewer shows is the following:

    – Distributed COM Event ID 10016 (The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
    {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}
    and APPID
    {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}
    to the user DESKTOP-IVDUELKAdministrator SID (S-1-5-21-2237603859-871246777-1327026540-500) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.)

    – Security-SPP Event ID 8198 (License Activation (slui.exe) failed with the following error code:
    hr=0x8007232B
    Command-line arguments:
    RuleId=dca14e37-0c5c-444f-9b35-1e2f161f5ac3;Action=AutoActivate;AppId=55c92734-d682-4d71-983e-d6ec3f16059f;SkuId=2de67392-b7a7-462a-b1ca-108dd189f588;NotificationInterval=1440;Trigger=NetworkAvailable)

    Are you able to help me out?

    Hi Brian, I note you apply this to 32; I wonder if a system in Win 10 Pro is 64, does that require another similar set of instructions as well, or just on 64, please?
    Your knowledge is truly phenominal.
    Thanks & regards, Jan.

    I enabled it using Powershell. I was concerned about being able to turn it off, so I went to the registry to see if I could remove the value or change it to 0. I found the Dword in the WD folder but it wouldn't give me permission to edit it. Can it be disabled with a command in Powershell or how can I get permission to edit it in the registry? All is good now but I would like to be able to switch it off in case it drives me nuts with false positives. Thanks for the tutorials.

    Instead of launching into this manipulation right away, ask yourself why Microsft does not activate it from the beginning? There's probably a very good reason…
