Every now and then Windows 10 can become unstable and corrupted. When system files become corrupt, windows may now work properly and you will need to repair windows installation files.

If you are a beginner user of windows 7, windows 8/8.1 or windows 10 and have backed up all your data, you may want to reinstall windows to save time. You can use Reset this PC or do a fresh install of Windows 10.

On the other hand, if you want to repair windows 7, windows 8/8.1 or windows 10 and have loads of programs and stuff on your computer that you don’t want to reinstall, then repairing windows operating system files is the only way to solve your computer problem.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

Step 1. Backup all your computer data.

Step 2. Troubleshoot your computer error or problem and determine whether its a hardware or software problem.

Attempt to Fix Corrupted system files in Windows 10

Step 3. How do I check Windows 10 system files? Run the System File Checker in Windows 10/8/7 type sfc /scannow in command prompt to fix/repair windows files.

Step 4. If you having trouble running SFC at the desktop try and eliminate any possible interference from third-party apps and try to run SFC scan from Safe Mode.

Hold the Shift key and choose the Restart the computer, now Select Troubleshoot / Advanced options / Startup Settings. choose 4 to Restart to safemode

Step 5. Sometimes you need to scan and repair protected system files, outside of Windows 10. To do this Hold the Shift key and choose the Restart the computer. navigate to Troubleshoot /
Advanced options / Command Prompt

Type: wmic logicaldisk get deviceid, volumename, description

Look for Volume Name which is normally D: and now type:
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C: /offwindir=D:Windows

Step 7. Open command prompt and type:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Step 8. Open the CBS.log file to view details of sfc scannow log and look for the corrupted files and replace the corrupted file with a known good copy manually. Navigate to C:WindowsLogsCBS

Step 9. Now we know what file is corrupted, we can replace than corrupt windows file with a known good one from a Windows 7/8/8.1/10 iso.

Open command prompt and type
takeown /f Path_And_File_Name (example)
takeown /f C:windowssystem32jscript.dll.

Now type: icacls Path_And_File_Name /GRANT ADMINISTRATORS:F (example)
icacls C:windowssystem32jscript.dll /grant administrators:F.

Now copy new file, type: copy C:tempjscript.dll C:windowssystem32jscript.dll.

the C:temp is where I stored my files, replace with your path to file.

Definitely not a hardware problem I've fitted a new keyboard would a new download of Windows on USB get into it to it to run a new Windows I've backed up everything I needed so a clean install isn't a problem

You Sir are a godsend. I had a corrupt Windows file, and Google found me many solutions, which all failed. They all said sfc, which failed, and dsim, which also failed. I knew there had to be some way to fix this without doing something drastic, and luckily I stumbled upon this video. I downloaded the Windows ISO, extracted the good version of the corrupt file, followed your instructions to replace the old file, and hey presto, all fixed.

    Thank you

Thanks. I will try all of this. Do you have any idea what could be wrong with my pc.

Here’s a description of the problem: I reset my pc and erased everything because of corrupt files. I do sfc /scannow and it still shows this. I run DISM and it fixes it but after I shut down and turn it back on or after a while the files get corrupted again.

So basically they keep getting corrupted. Do you think this could be a hardware problem and if so would I be correct to assume it’s my ssd or ram? Thanks

Me already stuck on automatic repair 😢

Can you help I have tried everything 😞

Brian, great video as always. What if I deleted an APP and did not uninstall it like I should have done. Now when I try to install it it says there are corrupt files. I don't get that because the installation files came from a fresh unzip and run of the msi file. How can a program be corrupt when it was freshly downloaded. I can only assume there are fragments of the previous install that is causing conflicts. Attempting to remove the old program via RegEdit is time consuming and risky. Any ideas? thanks.

I did a Windows 10 repair install and everything is working great now. Is it OK to delete the Windows Old folder?

My PC is quite literally a brick right now. I cannot get it to load windows at all except the troubleshooter which doesn't work. I've tried the scannow, it responds with Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. Running the DISM says that the support servicing windows PE with online option is not supported.

I have even tried just doing a clean install of windows, but it won't show my ssd m.2 despite windows is already there and previously working. The only HDD it recognizes is an external that it won't allow me to install on due to it not allowing USB connected HDD

The problem with him is that I can’t even make it to the desktop when I turn on my pc. And the prompt commands I entered respond saying “windows resource protection could not start the repair service” and it says that for every command I try to enter
