iOS17 – 20 AWESOME Features Coming Soon! (Preview)

Earlier this week, I put iOS17 into my ‘things I hated from WWDC’ category, and I stand by that, but after having had the week to really play around with the beta, I realise that there’s more to this upcoming release than Apple showed in their keynote. So in this video, I’m going to share with you the 20 iOS17 features that I’ve been most impressed by so far. This hopefully goes without saying but just in case, I’m using the developer beta here, these are all features that you’ll be able to use when you update to the official release, most likely in September of this year, please don’t message telling me that you can’t find these features on your phone, this is just a preview of what’s coming in a few short months.

Great features. I was expecting better dual sim management. Integration with focus modes.

  2. Dottie Davis

I was hoping to see more about the new super-simple interface in Accessibility. I have some senior friends who are looking forward to this, though they don’t really know that yet.

  3. Stan Steel

Can you actually use it as a phone? All seems so complicated.

  4. Curtis Emery

In my view, this is by far the best and most professional ‘tech review’ channel on You Tube. It is clear, well thought out and succinctly expressed. It has to be said that many other reviewers, although no doubt 😮well intentioned, lack the same professional polish.

  5. Alexander Wood

Many thanks for the succinct and informative update, high standard as always, very much appreciated

  6. Jeffrey H

Cool – like the sections in the Reminders and view them as columns – almost a Kanban board?

  7. Paul Murrant

I am not sure how this happened but I have an 11Ppro iPhone and am a public beta tester. By accident I hot the button for developer beta and now have iOS 17 on my phone. So far I am loving it and it seems bug free (fingers crossed). Maybe you are able to explain how this happened 😊

I’d IMMEDIATELY turn off that sensitive content detection feature, it begins with it being about nudity and soon begins being about politics and how the people behind Apple want you to think

Apple needs to send Tim Cook into retirement, despite apples success, he is no the man for the job, he lacks the necessary vision of the future! Apple needs someone like Elon Musk who is visionary! What a waste of time and money with those stupid goggles! Why not creating a device that projects all this into the room for anyone to see? Goggles might be a step but they are not a sellable product, there needs much more tinkering to do. Apple should concentrate onfixing and improving what they already got, like Siri and the home app is terrible, automations are not working like they should fix it. Reminders come on, it is a useless nightmare, keep it simple! I have been an Apple customer for years, but I get more and more dissatisfied particular issue is updating to new iOS’s despite moot so old Mac yet and still powerful enough to handle the new IOS, Apple prohibits it! Mac‘s have a big price tag and I expect a service in return. To force you customers to always upgrade and spend tons of money doing so, is NOT clever marketing, almost as bad as Budweiser!

Thanks for this preview. I'm looking forward to standby mode, especially. I am always turning on my phone to check the time. It would be nice to have the clock on the screen while the phone is resting on the table or nightstand. I'd also use the video message feature. I'm already happy with the fantastic weather app, and the translation app, so I'm sure I'll use the updated versions daily. (I agree with you about the moon, and if that feature is sufficient, I'll delete the moon phase app I've been using.)

iOS 17 and nobody is bother that we still cannot fully and truly play two audio sources at once. Hmmm 🤔 like Podcast app and Spotify or Music app. Optimized Waypoints order in multi stops route in Maps. How about sending playback start point markers when sharing podcast segments in Messages or even share Play. We still have to tell the next person to start the segment at minutes and seconds instead of it jumping directly to the Star Point. Still no automatic multi peer Local, private mesh relay Wi-Fi network to play games or communicate or message people and close proximity. What is going on on the world? Definitely no system level native BitTorrent support but lots of system level PDF love on all OS. What gives?

Siri is already triggering for me on 16.5. i gets triggere from random TikTok watcing

  13. Still wishing we could schedule text messages. Android had it over a decade ago. Thanks for the update!!

  14. Finally, a feature that warns you about sensitive content, so you won't accidentally open those embarrassing pictures from your friends

  15. nixl

Hey Proper, thanks for this video describing the upcoming features. I have two comments to make: the first is that your preview is so far in advance, we will forget what they are by the time they show up, so please consider redoing this episode, along with the more accurate updates, when the time comes for the rest of us non-beta testers. The second is that a lot of these features sound andr most likely are quite useful; the problem is that Apple has trained us for so many years to live without them. that introducing them so late in the game makes it very difficult for the old dogs to be taught new tricks if you know what I mean. I’ll leave it at that because the inference is pretty obvious. Thanks a lot.

  16. Eric Rounds

Thanks for this. I forgot about iOS 17… got distracted the Apple Vision Pro… Your videos are the best. Clean, no-fluff, efficiently written, and the chapters really help. You’re doing excellent work creating exceptional content. Thank you.

  17. nchia

Did I miss the bit that allows you to set default ring tones to different SIMs / phone numbers? I have dual SIM and would be good to know if someone is calling my work or personal number.

  18. Malcolm H

Thanks for the updates, love your vids! One thing I REALLY want is SEPARATE volumes, the ability to separate out ring tone vs alarm!! Android has bad this for YEARS. It’s so frustrating to not be able to separate the volume level ringtone, notifications, and alarm! When I have personal focus on, I’m forced have the volume on the lowest setting because I have my alarm at the lowest setting.

  19. Rick Paul

Did they give us the option in Notes to have checked items disappear instead of just moving to the bottom of the list? That’s really the only reason I don’t use Notes.

  20. Rob Yadouga

I like the Reminders groups and boards. Brings it up to par with Todoist which has those features.

  21. Guillermo Serra

If you decide to install a Beta with the new method, how can you downgrade if you ever do regret installing it?

  22. iOS 17 has a few major features (barely major) but a lot of Quality of Life improvements.

  23. Goose

Shopping lists in reminders would be useless, if it doesn’t know how to detect and show/replace potential duplicate. Google Keep lists are kings for that.

  24. Ange Alexiel

there are useful things, and like usual Apple will unveil some more stuff for IOS 17 along their next iPhone 15 Pro Max and Ultra keynote, I was hoping that the dynamic Island would serve us even for just regular notifications, like messages, instead of seeing a notification below the Island, why not using it for some important apps that we can choose to include in the notification settings, I love the dynamic Island, but it should be used even for non dynamic things…. and I hope Apple will add this on the 15 and 14 pro line up in the future…

  25. Mario Ferreira

Whether you seem impressed by the "awesome" features of ios17 I'm really disappointed by it. What a time to be alive 👀

  26. Chronic Town

    Safari page reader–similar features in
Accessibility on-screen tab controls always in the way and reactive to spurious touch.

  27. Mike Bedford

Another fantastic video, thank you! Do you know if in the Notes App you will be able to select different fonts and font colours like you can currently on a Mac?? Really hope this feature comes to iPadOS 🤞

  28. Stuart

first time watching your vid and I don't get why, the improvements they had shown were improvements yet you say you hated it… what was it you hated that's worse than iOS 16?

  29. Brian Thompson

You mentioned using Touch ID to unlock features in iOS 17. What phone model or you referring to?

From what I understand, there is no phone that has Touch ID that can use iOS 16.

  30. likematilda

Another year without split screen, I have no words guys 😢

  31. Susan

Great video and it’s nice to see what is coming up. Thanks.

  32. Jt H

When do we get Numbers above the letters on the keyboard??

  33. Bill Sklodowski

All good… but (there's always a big but, right?) Where is my Share functionality in iOS Mail? Seems so simple, yet so elusive. Would love to use the native app, but for now, share function is way better in old, reliable Airmail. C'mon, Apple! This can't be hard…

  34. Perla O.

I really want to be able to modify the apps on the Lock Screen.

    Flashlight and camera😅

Wish I could swap them place and just need to swipe to turn on the light rather than having to press.

I wish I could be given the option 😚

  35. Lisa Merriman

Ooh, some pretty cool changes coming up, especially in Reminders. Thanks for the preview.

  36. Dani

Aw, I was liking this video but now I think it sucks because pet recognition won’t work with my hairy tarantula. 😆🤣

  37. GG F

Thanks for providing this great overview. Could could do a video digging into the updates in the Notes app?

  38. Dispatched151

Would have loved to see which search filters for messages are included in iOS17 – all they showed in the keynote was the ability to add a contact name to search within that message conversation, would be interested in seeing if they added anything additional.

  39. NA H

Thank you , just learn so much from all your videos ❤

  40. Garry Burgess

I wish that they would also include "Journal" for MacOS, since this is where I'd be doing any typing.
