  1. Unless they rewrite the entire f'ing operating system, Windows will never be as great as macOS for mobility. And I use and love both. Actually haven't touched macOS for a year now and I think both have their pros and cons.

  2. Bzake

    Those bezels are unnecessary big.

  3. Ragnar Lothbrook

    Microsoft is known for their questionable choices. Dropping AMD from the lineup? I wonder how much intel has paid them.

  4. Kalzz

    The price for only 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is too much imo

  5. Chicco

    I don't understand why they keep making ultrathin laptops with Intel Xe graphics which is a joke to make a compliment. What about a few mm bigger and with more powerful chips? Does anyone need such a ultraportable device?

  6. Liao Ssin

    At this point I don't know are they even trying or they just try their best to milk us out.

  7. Going with Mac book air m2
    *better display 500 nits 10 bit dolbyvision support smaller bezezels
    * has 1080p web cam
    * segment best speakers ,trackpad ,microphones
    * insane battery life
    * full Performance without plug in
    * thinner and lighter
    * best laptop for editing works due to industry leading media engines 8k and prores encoders and decoders ,
    * way more powerful integrated gpu and M2 is a beast
    * built like a tank

    As someone who just switched out a Surface Latop 3 for a M2 MacBook Air, I can confirm that Apple are light years ahead in every department.

    Really do appreciate your product updates. As I have repeatedly stated living on USA Social Security with defective COLA s I am excluded from any purchase other than gasoline that honestly I can't afford. That said I live in computer heaven. My Samsung S21 is beautiful and I adjust it to escape it's flaws. My recently debuged nine years old Window 7 ZOTAC remains nearly perfect for me. My fifteen years old Window 10 HP beautiful laptop tough truly showing it's performance age does please me when ever I use it. Finally my 42 inch ultra HD Sharp Hensen Smart TV is the best and again I want no alternative. So with no disposal income computers are not a problem. In closing I want to add that my bag of tricks also includes a Sony PSP a Samsung Oculis Gear VR and a Sony Tablet and a Sylvania Bluetooth Speaker plus a Sony Premium Headphones and Jacked Headphones.

    Happy I did not wait for the Laptop 5, quite happy with the XPS Plus. in fact, the design of the XPS Plus has ruined me from liking any other laptop Macbook or Surface.

  11. Running Windows on a touchscreen devices is a stupid idea anyways. The Start Menu and the window control buttons are just not suitable for a touchscreen. Windows should at least get rid of the Start Menu and replace it with the App Grid Drawer like Mac OS, Chrome OS, iPad OS, Gnome (Linux), Android and iOS.

    The Start Menu design belongs to 1995 and should have been killed and buried long time ago. Windows 11 was really a big wasted opportunity for Microsoft to really revamp the UI of Windows to suit touchscreen devices.

    Hmmm, glad I've seen this review. It seems that there's better alternatives to the surface, such as the HP envy x360 13" 2 in 1 at this point at a similar price on paper.
    It's a shame because if the surface had better bezels and more of a selection of ports, it would deffo be a good choice worth considering for a thin and light ultrabook. At least it seems that way to me anyway.

    As soon as I hear Apple level built quality, I appreciated my macbook air one more time……Apple has no doubt set a benchmark with there macs

  14. PROHunter

    i5 for 1299.99 dollars…. How can i5 beat m2???

  15. Falcon 3:16

    No way people in Microsoft thought this is a good laptop to release… U series processors? Atleast give us P series … Which is comparable to M1 and M2 …

  16. Expanding Circle

    The M1 Macbook Air goes for 750โ‚ฌ used on Ebay in excellent condition and sometimes even less which is insane value. I've stopped buying new hardware years ago and the amount of money I saved is ridiculous.

  17. Bryan S

    I was an early adopter of Surface products (anyone remember the RT?) and if I hadn't made the switch to Apple land a few years ago the Surface laptops would still be on my short list.

  18. Abheet Jain

    MICROSOFT REALLY NEEDS TO BOUNCEBACK ANDCOMPETE WITH APPLE'S MACBOOK…I AM ROOTING FOR MICROSOFT…I KNOW THEY LL DELIVER

  19. Rob X

    If Apple created their own connector (on laptops) everyone would lose their minds. Now Microsofts creates a bang average laptop with proprietary connector no one cares. It is Microsoft, after all. Their skills is businesses. Apple is a poor value proposition without a particular use case.

    The company I work for use HP laptops with Windows 10. It is a sound working device. Word, OneNote and Outlook is fair platform as a programmer. Microsoft helps you create software.
    With all this said, this device makes no sense.

  20. Kamalaksh Shenoy

    I think if there has to be a significant difference between laptops or if significant difference has to be appear on Windows based laptop, then the core of it has to be revolutionary — Processor. Intel continues to disappoint as a result Windows laptops (Surface or otherwise) continue to disappoint as compared to Apple with Apple Silicon.

  21. Travelling Mac

    If you see black bars while watching a movie it means the movie is not worth watching๐Ÿ˜‚.

  22. Ex Tra

    Cmon Microsoft reduce the bezels or something. at least act like youโ€™re trying

  23. I think its very bad for customers to buy surface laptop and encourage MS to continue doing nothing and still gain money.

  24. Travelling Mac

    I still use Surface Pro 3 and it does what I need it for well. I canโ€™t imagine an average consumer complaining about this Surface Laptop 5 when it comes to ability to have the job done well. Not much upgraded from Laptop 4? Well, thatโ€™s true but not many people upgrade their laptops every year. As for me, too much whining by the reviewer about this product.

  25. Lwin Lwin Maung

    Now I face with laptop 4 battery just show 50% is the maximum evenly I charge over 5 hours how can I charge this until 100%

  26. Happy

    Thick ass bezels from 2016

  27. Bryan E

    You said no fingerprint scanner.. True, but I didn't hear you mention "Hello" face id. Did I miss that?

  28. Watchandlearn91

    Honestly, it is hard for me to recommend anything other than the M1 Air for people doing normal computer work with no gaming (browsing the web, office work, etc…). It is thin, light, has a fantastic keyboard, best trackpad in the industry, Touch ID, best battery life around with 18 hours, and it never even gets what I would call warm to the touch. You can get it refurbished for $750 and brand new you can often find it for $850 or everyday from Apple for $899 with an education discount (no proof needed). I've had mine since the beginning of June 2021 and it has been the best laptop I've ever purchased and I own a LOT of tech.
