[SONY XPERIA 1 IV HANDS-ON]

It just doesn’t seem fair. You shouldn’t get plaudits from reviewers year after year saying you’re “one of the most-improved phone brands” … without eventually becoming an easily-recommendable phone brand. But when it comes to smartphones, Sony is the opposite of easy. I’m Michael Fisher and this is a very early preview of the Sony Xperia 1 IV.

[ABOUT MRMOBILE’S SONY XPERIA 1 IV HANDS-ON]

MrMobile’s Sony Xperia 1 IV Hands-On was produced following two weeks with a Sony Xperia 1 IV review sample provided by Sony. Pre-production prototype running pre-release software.

MrMobile does not accept compensation from the manufacturers of the products he reviews in exchange for producing content. No payment was provided and Sony was not afforded a preview, editorial input or copy approval rights concerning this review. The lone sponsor of this video is BetterHelp.

Travel and lodging for the 5G Summit portion of this video in San Diego was provided by Qualcomm.

It’s shipping in the u.k. on June 16th for £1299, with WH-1000XM4 headphones FREE from Sony u.k.

A balanced review as always. I'm one of those users who has become increasingly frustrated and exasperated by mobile phone companies who continue to release models without a headphone jack or expandable memory. I get it – more and more people are using Bluetooth devices and the cloud. Here's the thing – so do I. However, I don't want to be locked in or become reliant on either Bluetooth or cloud storage. I want to have a level of control over these increasingly rare phone "features". So a massive thank you to Sony for continuing to look out for people like me who want the best audio experience in a mobile device that is simply not possible with Bluetooth (yet) and the ability to bump up your storage capacity. The argument about Sony needing to come up with a camera that can do better under all conditions with the auto setting is more than fair. If you have the tech to produce all the bells and whistles that typically come with a manual DLSR camera, then surely it's not asking too much for Sony to do better with their auto settings technology. If they can do that, then I'm ready to make the jump when this phone releases.

  3. everything I've had from Sony barely lasted a year. including 4 mobiles. awful awful quality. never again. although this looks hot af

Main reasons why I chose my Xperia 1ii: Capacitive fingerprint scanner, SD card storage, headphone jack, and SPEAKERS.
Since my HTC One, I've had phones with dual front facers and the only other ones delivering Boomsound-like speakers are the Xperia's and the ASUS ROG phone. That's pretty much it.

Please DO revisit once the final version comes out 👍🏽

If i ever decide to move to android… xperia is what id get.

With how close Sony's getting to a really good phone with the 1 series, I hope they start putting more effort into the high end but not flagship 5 series and budget 10 series, alongside bring more colours to more markets (and just be available in more markets period. Sony Mobile Canada needs to return!)

  8. Snark Mark

I find the biggest issue with Sony phones is the modem. It needs all the bands a galaxy has.

  9. Lloyd

Not enough software support sadly, same thing every release with Sony!

  10. jcif23

not to slander the phone or your review but by the time the phone comes out it'll probably be outdated

When I watch some channels like Channel James matthews Makes me sure that mrmobile channel He doesn't know how to take pictures with xperia Or he knows, but he doesn't want success for Xperia phones 😁

mrmobile It fell on the phone test and this phone never fell after watching other channels
You can tell that he hates Sony because in every Xperia video he utters slanderous and hilarious words for Xperia fans
Never in my life have I seen him talk this ridiculously to an Apple or Samsung user
mrmobile You should respect Xperia-loving viewers
And if you fell about how to use this camera, go and see for yourself James matthews Channel How did he record a video by xperia pro i Which you also fell in pro i review

Can someone show Mr.Mobile other content creators that produced almost movie like videos out of this Sony phone? While I appreciate him setting the bar high for Sony to make it accessible to more users but not really sure why he hasn't shown some of the good samples as well to make it unbiased ( I'm assuming unconsciously of course).

  13. mige sama

I will have to say that while the main form of the phone does not change, the design itself does.
From I to IV, they're all different.

  14. Eric Cartman

Can you review Vestel Venüs Z40? It's a Turkish product, and it's probably only available in Turkey…

  15. John Yeman

I love the way Michael narrates his videos. They are thoughtfully written, with lots of new info, and read with a relaxing enthusiasm that you never see elsewhere on YouTube.

  16. George Kougianos

Excellent first look. I've eagerly awaited info on each release and almost bought last year's but I might go for this one this year. We'll see if the next announcement keeps my attention. 🙏💯👍

  17. I notice you've never reviewed any of the xiaomi black shark phones. Maybe you can review the new Black shark 5

  18. Mark Kavanagh

The phone goes on sale in Ireland on June 16 so a lot less time than September to get things right in terms of updates and fixes.

  19. Ambitionary

The fact that it has all thos features even the headphone jack and expandable storage with no notches or punchhole cameras makes this phone special, I want it.

  20. TechDove

I would absolutely love to see a revist! I review phones as well, and the times I don't have or don't want to lug my sony alpha A7RIII I'd love to have a sony phone to snag video with, assuming it improves.
As of right now, I'm using an iPhone 13 pro max for that purpose.

  21. ilovepizzandnb

I was working at the 5G summit, wish i knew you were there! haha. Great review as always

  22. Vinny

    3.5mm headphone jack; I'm in.

  23. I like the Sony design language – and the latest 1mkIV design language is just super – I miss the 'half press to focus' after years of Sony Xperia which is not present on my Samsung S20+. In the end, it was down to affordability and next time, I think I might go Google Pixel '8' – no need to change atm.

Will you do the new iPhone SE review ?
