Steam Deck OLED! | Ayaneo Air Pro Review

Reviewing the Ayaneo Air Pro handheld gaming console, a Windows 11 Steam Deck and Switch OLED rival for 2023. This unboxing and two month verdict of the Ayaneo Air Pro tests the gaming chops of this portable game machine, but is it the best option vs the Steam Deck and Switch? Aya, Neo!

Some of the specs are an upgrade, including that OLED display which peaks at Full HD resolution at 60Hz. That said, most modern games such as Uncharted Lost Legacy and Doom Eternal only run well when you drop the graphics on the Ayaneo Air Pro to 720p, so it’s only indie and less demanding titles that’ll benefit.

The AMD Ryzen 7 CPU is backed by up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and this can handle the biggest gaming titles I tested, including Uncharted. However, you will need to scale the visuals to suit this portable console. So like the Steam Deck and Switch, you’ll be playing any demanding fare at regular HD resolution.

Still, the Ayaneo Air Pro’s cooling system works well, the controls are comfortable and I like some of the design features. Those glowing thumbsticks are cool and you can charge using two USB-C ports, above and below the device.

Do you think this is the best Windows 11 handheld gaming machine? It’d be great to hear your thoughts below! Check out my review of the Steam Deck and Switch OLED for more portable console goodness.

The price is a bit too high, I know comparable laptops cost that much money, but even then. Home consoles should be lower than ยฃ500, I canโ€™t justify burning money for the latest and greatest.

Man, if steam deck wasnโ€™t using Linux and had a bit more storage on the base, considering 64gb on a ยฃ349 device is skimping out a bit too much.

I hope the air plus comes sooner or later.

Nice little handheld there, which is a little costlier than it should be

  3. Warren Badze

Dont call it oled steam deck there were products like this before the steamdeck came around .. Get real

  4. so weird now seeing full PCs in the form factor of the PSP 20 years ago this was a dream

  5. Marek Gworys

The price is probably like for three Steam Deck consoles.

Ayaneo themselves: I ya knee o

Tech Spurt: ah ya neh o

    Me: A ya me roooooooo

I honestly like the fact that the steam deck is bigger, the switch and even smaller handhelds are just too small! My hands cramp up within minutes on a switch, not to mention it just doesn't feel comfortable like a actual controller does.

    CLICKBAIT
if youre hauling game systems around town and youre over 16yo. youre a dork!

I wouldn't mind one of them I wonder if that means you can put any games on it like repacks obviously if you get a repack game that does mean that you wouldn't be able to use the internet on the game but it makes you wonder how gd technology is getting nowadays

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like that James Corden ๐Ÿ˜‚.

I ordered my Ayaneo 2 and I'm stoked!!!

    Iya neo…… Ayi neo…..iyaan neo…….aya a neoii….. Argghhh I give up ๐Ÿ˜ข

You would need a 6600u/6800u as the soc to justify one of these over a steam deck. I would also still go with SteamOS as Windows on a handheld is clunky as hell.

  13. Brian

The resolution clearly should have been 720p

  14. Ryลซjin

Nice handheld but still needs more powerful graphics to justify this price.

  15. Muted

Over a grand…… no thanks, keep it.

  16. Oldskool978

zen 3 with Vega graphics… steam deck is much preferred.

  17. Jesse Boy

Oh shit, I thought u were doing only phones, what a pleasant surprise although it has to be said that u absolutely butchered the name of this handy little device ๐Ÿ˜‰ still, it was quite entertaining to watch, as always I must add. Thanks, mate.

Mr Spurt, Can you make the ayaneo air pro drinking game? Might struggle saying ayaneo though. Specially after a few whiskies ๐Ÿคฃ

  19. Suhaib Sufi

Way too expensive for now and it would have to go some distance to match the flexibility of of the Steam Deck in general use and controls and naturally, ouch battery life.. However interesting direction tech is taking … maybe in a few more years Anyaneo but bit more viable.

  20. Thomas Toth

I like the idea of a Windows handheld. I wish a more notable company would make one. Enjoyed the James Corden diss though.

  21. Tomo Tomo

    The title is umm
    Ok
I thought it's valve buying bulk of oled panels

  22. Mark Gibbons

I can't really take someone seriously when they can't spend 30 seconds looking at another video/asking someone who the name is pronounced.

    Aiya, Neo.

    "EYE-YA-NEO"

  23. Ahskur

How can this compete with the Deck or the Switch costing 1,399? KEK

  24. abraxys

What's the RRP in the UK? Is it comparable to the Steam deck or is it more expensive?

  25. iFruit

If only the deck had oled and less bezel

  26. Adventurez 27+

If it's smooth for BGMI & Call of Duty, Mobile legends at the highest settings, then good enough for me๐Ÿ†’

  27. Ashonam

at that price it's not even close to be a competitor to the Steam Deck, let alone the Switch, lol

  28. can this thing really work like pc if work like real win 11 maybe i can play games for free without pay 1$๐Ÿ˜‰

  29. PAUL MH

Good system but it will struggle with high end games unlike the steamdeck. I like the size though i hope if theres an upgraded steamdeck that they make it a little bit smaller like this!

  30. Mike Reves

If I wanted to buy one now, this would be my preference. But Im gonna wait for the next full gen version before I buy.

  31. ArtoriasYT

It doesn't come close to the deck for me, you simply cannot get a better cost to performance ratio than that
