Great stuff and love this watch. The price is a bit rough though; I got a full gold, including bracelet, 3820 for only a bit more. That movement does look amazing but is it worth $10+k when you can easily get a 38mm 38xx model for cheap?

  2. Wilkins Le

im sorry but my $80 Casio have a better date window placement and design blend than that….

    Hi Teddy,
If there any suggestion on automatic caliber watch, with complete arabic numbers face, and date function?
    Thx

Basically, I like both models, also because of their clarity and calmness. But the 15-minute counter is really stupid for me. Has anyone ever tried to read the stopped time with both totalizers. Sure, it can't hurt to get your brain cells going again, but I prefer to do that with other things. Did you think at Breguet that the civilian population has enough time for their hobby, because pilots would certainly not bother with such tittle stuff.

Can't stand the green markers and the unnecessary date window. The Only Watch version had it right.

  6. Mohamed Alketbi

I have always consider type XX -XXI —XXII alongside with zenith and other high beats chronos above mainstream chronographs that people tend to overlooked and overhyped!

  7. Watch Out

Breguet's history and heritage is unchallenged, but their main problem in my opinion is their design and looks. And this is subjective, but personally I don't find most of their collection, including these 2 watches visually appealing at all.

The military model is good ,but the civil one is hit and miss .The case is very good ,but the dial is too busy and not fit for military purpose. And something else what is very important for me .All my respects for the great history of Brequet, but this watch they actually stole after Second world war from the Germans. Particularly Hanhart .And i always wil choose the original .Even if its not on par now with the quality of Brequet.

  9. megasoid

Great segment and suit Teddy. Nice watch too, all the best.

  10. KJ

    Too big and thick

  11. Puccini 45

I'd be tempted by the older, discontinued version, but as everyone knows – that's just a rebranded Tissot.

  12. Puccini 45

Breguet and Rolex owner here. I'm in the market for a factory-new chronograph, but I won't be buying this one. 1. Teddy, the name is Breguet, not Broogay (the eg element as in pronouncing egg). 2. The new 42mm size to too big for most tastes. 38-39mm is far more generally acceptable. This applies particularly to buyers of higher end makes like Breguet, which are chosen for taste, rather than look-at-me flashy inclinations. 3. $18,000 is too expensive for what it offers. 4. The power reserve is insufficient, compared to alternatives. 5. It's too thick at 14.1mm. 6. Only 100m water resistant. Conclusion…… Breguet have got this wrong, and as a dedicated fan of this wonderful company it saddens me. It also irritates the heck out of me to admit that the best alternative is the Daytona, but with so many 99.9% perfect copies of the Daytona out there, devaluing ownership of the real thing, that's not what I want.

The squeezed Date Window between 4-5 is a joke .
    The price is ??? .
    No , Thanks Swatch .😉

  14. steve j

teddy the suit way better then the turtle. very sharp brother.

  15. Peter Lux

I much prefer the military version. You are correct. Even though I can easily wear a 42mm, the last few years I've been attracted mostly to smaller cases. I think 39's are great in most instances for me.

  16. LMPHM

I'm in love with the civilian version immediately! Tempting on saving and buying it…

  17. hybrid n

Bro doesn t this guy look like @sambucha

  18. Enrico P

A new version with in house movement, two sub dials, rotating bezel, quick release of the strap and no date was the perfect evolution of an icon.

  19. Angelo Pepe

Breguet's heritage and legacy are undisputed. These releases are a testimony to their engineering prowess and rich culture.

  20. Roberto Sarno

Very nice review, as always. 42mm is just the size of a Speedmaster, only without the history of it. It would be nice to compare though how the pushers feel when operated. Also very interesting the rotating bezel.
The only thing that spoils it all is the price. 20k is just too freaking much. If one thinks that 15k for a Daytona is a lot then the speedy is definitely going to close any argument before it even starts

  21. Joppers

Made it worse. Ill stick with type XXI all day long

  22. Takuan

Nice looking watch, but $18000?? For what? The brand name? For things they have done in the 'history past' ? My mechanical 'Marloe Sceptre' has a + – 2 sec. 24hr. tolerance, looks as good and cost me $600.

  23. splintercell044

Went to Patek Philippe Museum when in Geneva for Watches and Wonders this past April, and the private tour guide might have talked about Breguet just as much as PP. Really cool how much respect exists between these incredibly high horology houses.

  24. CCV334

Hey Teddy, love your reviews. What are your thoughts on Mr. jones watches?

  25. Amira m

    $18,000?? What are they smoking????

  26. Watch the Bule

Strongly dislike the date window…what a turn-off! No for me!

  27. Eric Davis

I HATE to be that guy, buuuut, as a career airman, the plural for aircraft is aircraft. There is no "s" ever. For example: "I am going to fly my aircraft today." Or, "The Air Force deployed several aircraft today"

  28. Aaron's Watches

The military is the winner here. But come on, why why why the 430 date window? Also did this civilian or Longines Big Eye come first? Extremely similar.

  29. Dukes70

That date looks hideous!! $18K and it looks like an afterthought!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  30. mario siaven

The movement looks way too spartan considering the brand & piece just compare that with a recent Omega Coaxial they are worlds apart

  31. Mark H

Oh that date? What were they thinking! One thing – are the lugs with fixed bars for that QR system or are they conventional springbars?

  32. Unless money's no object and you REALLY love Breguet, it makes no sense to get this over a Breitling 765, which is what inspired the Type XX.

  33. Kareem Storer

Love your videos – is there any chance of doing a review on the new Longines Conquest 2023?

  34. Johnny Guitar

This isn't bad, but why would anyone want to spend almost $20k for it, when Type XX ref. 3800 are to be found second hand in impeccable condition with box and papers for $5-7k?

  35. Giancarlo Plati

This is the equivalent of copying another person’s homework. We wait for a decade for new designs … and we get this dreck … for 18k. What a joke.

  36. James Wellman

I hate the 3 o'clock wheel that cuts into the hour numbers. I hate the ugly date window at 4:30. Love Breguet, but would never buy one of these. Love the older type 20's and 21's. Too large also. Looks a little cheap.

  37. Jim Muisenga

This might be the worst looking watch at the price point I’ve seen. That date window is horrible. Just terrible. Breguet you must do better. The more I think about it, the worse this just gets. Wheres the high horological finishing on the movement? Omegas look better than this.

  38. Sullivan Bacerdo

Type XX was never made by Breguet, it has nothing to do with their heritage. They were produced under contract by Mathey Tissot, so neither the design, nor manufacturing was done by Breguet

  39. D William

I own a Breguet Type XX Transatlantique ref 3820 from 2004. Which I acquired in 2009 in mint condition and full set. I love the fact it’s not so common, looks great and runs well. I always get compliments when I wear it.

  40. Ian Morris

I've always liked the Type XX/XXI. I aspire to own the 3810 Transatlantique. I'd much rather have one of them than the Daytona.

With that said, I'm not sure that I am excited for this release. A new movement is intriguing, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to pay 2-3 times the price of the one that I want for one that is new.
