Why So Many Companies Are Copying Netflix And Why That’s Bad For You

Netflix gained over 27 million subscribers over the past 6 years. Since then, there has been an increasing amount of streaming services from Hulu to Amazon Prime Video to soon Disney+. These companies began to create exclusive and original content to keep their viewers. But that means consumers will have to pay $10 to $15 a month for each service if they want to get access to all the content they want or unfortunately resort to online pirating. Think about where you get your content. Is it from cable TV? Streaming services? Now think about how much you pay for them.

Bro 30 $ give to homeless people is better than westing your time give dislike
    If u disagree

  3. Siddharth J

Let's all just to take a moment to thank torrents and all those free streaming sites on internet!

  4. j

Actually Netflix is trying to make "quality content" just like HBO….. and so far… they're failing at it….

  5. Fire Dust

This is why we need to 1) Boycott Streaming Services, and 2) Keep Physical Media alive.

  6. Mr. Sith

Why is the search function in Netflix such crap? If you want to know which movies are available with, say, a specific spoken language, it's impossible! Why haven't they got a simple drop down filter function which gives you what you search for instead of having to browse through a ton of stuff you are not really interested in right there and then. I want to narrow my search to a few movies which fit my preferences and not have to browse through stuff. The sad thing is that the other streaming services copy this horrible solution. This is what socialism looks like. You want this, but you can get something else, after a long search. Sorry for my rant. Does anyone else question why the programmers at Netflix are unable to create a drop-down menu?

The only thing I like streaming service is because they're cheaper

  8. Mr. Bigglesworth

All these services are still cheaper than cable.
Also I tend to cancel 1 if I want to get into another…

  9. Zuffin

Streaming services are stuttery, inconsistent, and are a pain in my ass. Buy physical versions of your favorite shows/movies.

  10. millertime7275

Pirating is gonna rise. There's room for like 4 big services, netflix, hulu, Disney plus and maybe prime cause people have it anyways for shipping. CBS, Peacock, any others can gtfo

  11. VinWjya18

And people say competition is good for consumers…

  12. Kim S

I had to cancel multiple subscriptions its not useful having so many. Cable has too many reality shows, award shows and predictable sitcoms. At least neflix has so many divese type of programs.

  13. erokk121

Just another reason why capitalism is inefficient.

  14. I know streaming services can be confusing and annoying at times, but please, don't resort to pirating. You're hurting the industry and the people who actually pay for content.

  15. Theodor

You could just not watch all that bullshit.

  16. David Smith

This is why a lot of people are getting fire stick in jailbreak because it's too expensive if they would start lowering the prices and I think the new Administration is going to have to talk to the FCC about this what do people do that are on SSI just sit there and twiddle your thumbs I think that it's becoming a rich man's game entertainment this is why I am praying they don't do away with DVDs and Blu-rays because at least you buy it once and you're finished unless they can do a $30 everything included for low income people disabled and senior citizens I'm okay if I can watch NBC CBS and ABC shows both old and new anytime I want that would make me content

  17. "Searching 'free online' doesnt exclude you from piracy"

    Oh no. Anyways…

  18. Matthew Dilday

Yes, I agree that too many streaming services are bad, especially bad for your money. Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu are enough. People rely on the Internet way too much these days. I remember back when television and internet were separate. There are great channels on cable such as the TCM, AMC, SYFI, TBS, Science and PBS. You don’t need internet for cable, you can get local news and sports on cable. I wish cable television will rise to it’s glory once again. Spread the word please.

  19. xxballsofgold

Hulu didn’t really copy, it started in 2007 before Netflix took off

  20. jestin

or just put everything on youtube with ads or membership.

  21. Kyle Reese

See this is why I would rather the Blu-ray than streaming because paying for multiple services for stuff I can pay once and then own it at a higher quality.

  22. frilink

I quit pirating movies because of Netflix

Guess I'll be pirating movies again

  23. frilink

I have Piratebay, Kickass Torrent and Torrentz……

  24. frilink

Just pay for internet subscription and pirate the rest……

  25. garfield50004u

The title is so wrong. It is not bad for me. it is for the companies. It is the companies which is forcing people who are willing to subscribe resort to piracy. I don't want to subscribe to every tom, dick and harry claiming to be a streaming service. If all tne content are available in a single platform, i don't mind paying. Otherwise I will continue to access other websites where I can get the content for free.

  26. Reece Arcinas

What do the streaming companies want. People stealing their content by torrenting or want a service where it is cheap. These companies don't know people only subscribe to a handful of streaming services and make them pay more.

  27. Brandon Govreau

At least some streaming services put their streaming content on DVD and Blu-ray

  28. eternalnut

I still use DVDs and I don't care about the exclusives so yeah…

  29. I been saying this for years since I seen Netflix come out… no one listen
