WiFi 6 Explained

What is WiFi 6 (802.11ax) and WiFi 6E? This is an animated video explaining the features in WiFi 6. WiFi 6 is faster than WiFi 5…but speed wasn’t necessarily its main goal. The main goal of WiFi 6 is to make a WiFi network perform better when a lot of devices are connected to it.

Because 9.6 Gbps is in are homes 😂. Frontier ADSL2+ 6Mbps

that "both devices must be wifi6" part really bites, because unless it's a new phone most companies couldn't be bothered with giving you the latest tech. Even when the tech is 5 years old (USB Type C anynone?)

This is probably the best video I have seen about wifi 6. However, I would like to know what if wifi 5 or older exists on the network. With the carts going to separate devices, can wifi 6 send cards to AX devices while also talking to AC devices or does the entire network completely stop when talking to older devices? I think only in about 2020 did nearly every device like smart TVs and tv sticks and refrigerators supported AC, so it will be another 5-10 years until all devices are wifi 6, not just your new phone and laptop. So will wifi 6 be useful or do you need to wait 10 years until wifi 7 is out for wifi 6 to work?

My God your videos are a lifesaver I am studying compatia a+ trying to help into IT field and because of your videos I actually understand subnetmask, vlan and so on thank you so much if we can support you somehow by donations I will definitely will

Thanks for the video. I recently updated to mesh system with spotty results primarily with streaming on tv. I upgraded both the modem and router. First tried the net gear nighthawk 3 piece system with very bad stability. Returned that for an expensive Orbi ax4600. Computers like the system but fire sticks don’t. I even upgraded one fire stick to a Wi-Fi 6 version. Randomly drops connections to the internet even though I haven’t actually lost internet. About to return the Orbi and possibly get a nest 4 point Wi-Fi 5 system. Thoughts.

I have invested hours with netgear and Amazon on troubleshooting.

Too bad you can't justify quitting your job and going over to clean up the IRS.

  10. Laszlo

Too bad both AC and AX speeds are basically unobtainable in normal, home conditions. I have 1 Gbps internet which I can reach with ethernet, but no matter the router, I can only get 1/3 of it with my M1 Pro Macbook, or my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Wonderful video, nice job. thank you very much

Not all current IoT devices run on 802.11ax. Most still have the legacy 2.4ghz.

  13. White Tiger

Your explanation is very easy to understand . Great job

  14. Jeremy Ellwood

Higher the frequency means higher the bandwidth, but lower the range.

  15. wsk 48

Very detailed explanation and what model wifi 6 home use ? Tq

  16. K. Baller

Is it backwards compatible? Does your devices all have to be running at wifi 6?

  17. Uncle Larry Hang

Is that the highest wifi router or anything higher than that brother? May I know

  18. Но одно но, если ваш смартфон или любое другое устройство не поддерживает 802.11 ax, то вы зря переплатили деньги…

  19. Jason Cummings

I really hope your channel grows exponentially soon.
    Absolutely great presentations.
    Keep them coming.

Marking and ignoring frames? At electric level? Frames at elecric level?
omg, take a look at ISO/OSI…..

  22. Velasoraptor

Any recommendation on a WiFi 6 mesh network? Been looking around and idk which one to do. I still wish Google made a wifi 6 mesh router

  23. Stephen Coste

i am a internet tech for a major isp and i endorse this video.

  24. You just wmm off in wifi 5 and less rts 100
I like the wifi 6 that it have long guard interval

  25. Stephen Richards

welcome to WiMAX on WiFi. This isn't the first time that OFDMA has been used, but it is good to see it being implemented, at last

  26. Because I understood clearly the explanation, I subscribed— No frills, no fuzz, just a plain and easy-to-understand narrative. Thank you and stay safe.

It’s not clear what features of a Wi-Fi 6 router would require a Wi-Fi 6 device. Every segment of this video talks about what the router can do under Wi-Fi 6, but the ending makes it sound like the device trying to use the router will not get the full benefits. What benefits are left out? The orthogonal feature was the most attractive to me, but will some devices not work with all the data moving to it?

  28. Ola Rantakangas

The Router you linked to from Amazon (Netgear R8000) does not support WiFi 6.

  29. Anurag Kv

Is wifi 6 full duplex?? Because it has Uplink Downlink MU MIMO also OFDMA…. So does that mean it's full duplex??? Could anyone help me with this??

  30. Luis Marques

And me watching this video and still using an old WRT54GS 54mbps. Its slow but rock solid stability for more than a decade with DD-WRT firmware.
