If you use this as an ultrabook, which is more basic tasks like office, media and browsing, it is excellent value though not really standing out in any metric. But if you need some iGPU grunt, or have intensive CPU work, then there are better options.

Great review! It would be really helpful if you could show upgradability of these laptops as well.

  3. ave rie

Your timing is great! I’ll be buying a laptop soon and this series is very helpful.

  4. SM-R8

Just about to pull the trigger on a yoga 7 amd.
Seems to be quite good value, for specs.
Coming from an m2 air, which I love. Need a Windows laptop for study, unfortunately.

  5. cldpt

I really really REALLY want to see your 16 inch version review for the dedicated dGPU and H-series CPU components which go really high for such a slim laptop

How would the yoga 9i compare to the thinkpad yoga x1 gen 8? I cant really tell the difference between the two and dont love the look of thinkpads

  7. A

Josh, I just checked it out few hour ago along with the 7i gen 8 & 2023 Asus Zenbook Flip 14". I have to say it looks stunning but the keyboard, price, and HDMI port swayed me over to the Zenbook. Hopefully you get to review that champ soon.

I don't understand why the Macbook Pro 14's fans aren't a problem at all at 47 decibels, but the 9i's are a big problem at 49 decibels. A 2-decibel difference wouldn't even be noticed by many people, let alone be the difference between bad and perfectly fine.

I think it's a mistake to ignore the port selection in comparisons, by the way. I know someone who procured M2 Airs for their work team who give a lot of presentations, only to find they don't power multiple displays. Ports do matter.

  9. Mashal Qamar

Okay now review Asus zenbook s13 oled and yoga 7i 🙏🏻

Honestly anything is bad value compared to macbooks these days, so, i wouls rather take a 2020 macbook anyday vs this one, not to mention the new macbook models.

  11. Lizard King

god it looks so cheap and plasticy, everything is bulbous and bulging, the screen, the base, the keys. Can we not just have a nice sleep machined aluminium windows laptop with perfectly fitting seams?

Great video. I'm looking for a new laptop and prefer windows over Mac OS, though I love the new MacBooks. I'm looking for a flexible machine to do office work and some light editing and live streaming for work from time to time. I'm getting a deal on a used Surface Laptop Studio with i7 11th Gen 16 Gigs of Ram, 512 SSD and RTX 3050ti for 1K USD. Good deal or nah?

  13. SteveRunciman

sticking with mac until windows gets a quiet/cool m1-type processor

  14. Julio Garcia

I wish they sent you the pro version :(. However, still excellent content. Thank you

After so many different windows laptops I've come to the conclusion that I can no longer stand fan noise, short battery life, and heat, and It doesnt get better with each generation, just worse. Apple is on a whole different tier in these aspects, it's not even comparable anymore. If you don't have to have windows, buying a apple sillicon laptop is a no brainer.

    ** Warning **
    Don't buy Lenovo laptop.
I won't buy a Lenovo laptop. Worst Experian with Lenovo laptop. Very bad quality product.
My Yoga C940 didn't survive 1 years with very light use as a secondary device

This laptop is very similar to the ‘best kept secret’ laptop of last year: the Yoga 7 14” gen 7 with the clever but almost unobtainable AMD 6800U. This CPU switches intelligently up to 28W and has an awesome iGPU for its class. The result is not only better performance than an Intel 12th gen P series CPU but less fan noise and better battery life too. Otherwise the chassis is almost as good as the Yoga 9 and it has the same screen, ports, keyboard, speakers, touchpad and 1080p camera etc. That laptop was not available in the US and scarcely seen anywhere else either. Hopefully later this year the AMD versions of this laptop series will get the wider distribution it definitely deserves.

Hi, I need a 17” laptop with a touchscreen, which one is the best in the market, Dell XPS 17, HP Envy 17, Dell Inspiron 17, ……? Thanks in advance

thoughts on the yoga pro 7? rtx 3050, 3k screen

Thanks for the objective review Josh. We have a Windows laptop, complete with fan noise, that does a very good job (ASUS VivoBook 15). My wife uses it these days because she prefers Windows, and I use my M2 MBA 13 because I now prefer macOS and the Apple hardware.

  21. Arjun Ravi

I am eagerly waiting for your review of the framework 13 with AMD CPU

  22. Atilolzz

I honestly cant wait for Ryzen 7 7840U Laptops tbh

  23. ftm

What about PWM and constant eye strain from working with it. This makes it the worst

  24. Cheeky Baboon

Did you notice a moiré effect/screen door effect on the 2.8K OLED? Basically a dot matrix pattern (similar to an inkjet printer pattern) which is most likely the touchscreen digitizer that makes colors look grainy/dirty, especially whites and greys? I saw it on the Yoga 7i in-store and it felt as if there were thousands of faint dead pixels on the display. I'm wondering if it is also on the Yoga 9i.

I've read a lot of forums complaining about this because they advertise the display as very high-res and color accurate, but then completely ruined by covering it up with a low-res dot matrix pattern. I've also read that it is not really visible on the 4K model. If you could, I would love a comparison of the screen door effect between the 2.8K and 4K OLED

  25. steve sutton

I have accepted that I'm just going to be "that guy" with the loud fans. So many people do so many rude, obnoxious things out in the wild but what I do is of greater importance.

  26. 6Ligma

And this "intel dilemma" is much worse in the Lenovo Yoga 7i series this year: they made it with 2 CPU tiers (p-series and U-series), but the good quality screens (100% sRGB) are only available if you buy one with P-series CPU in it!!!! The u-series laptops have a screen with 64% SRGB accuracy (you've read it right, 64% in 2023!) …. Honestly, this is borderline FRAUD!

  27. Om Singh

Josh i love ur reviews but i feel like you have a vendetta against the hp spectre design😅. Pretty much everyone i know thinks the hp spectre is the sexiest laptop around, in the dark colour with the golden accents.

  28. Daniel Danish

please can you also try a laptop with frore system cooling inside ? Great video

  29. Chris P. Bacon

Also been looking at the Yoga 7 pro lately. Amazing hardware for the price

  30. CHIAZA

    Fantastic review Josh but…

    Still waiting for
Yoga slim 7 pro with 7735hs and 3050.
    Legion slim 7i with 4060

  31. ·

You didn't talk about the battery saver mode. If youre doing light tasks in BS mode the fan noise is minimal

  32. Bryan Solorzano

the precision of the technical specs is awesome as always!💪 whats the difference in performance of this laptop and the yoga book 9i with double screen?

  33. FR4NK Prysner

Great Video! Are you planing to make a review video to the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED UX3404? bcs in your excel sheet you wrote Warning: H series processor is too powerful for 14inch

  34. Daniel Rodriguez

on fan noise, is the Macbook Pro 14 number correct? it shows basically the same noise 47 versus 49 than this laptop?

  35. Tech basics

hey josh! great video, I would love to see a video on the 7i as it has the i7 1355u processor and is much cheaper
