8 Things We DON’T WANT In Final Fantasy 16

Every new mainline Final Fantasy game has massive expectations and hype to live up to, though not all of them do it successfully. Ever since Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy 16 though, there’s been a lot of optimism surrounding the game.

From the development team taking charge of the project to its fantasy setting, there’s plenty about the game that many are quite excited about. Information on Final Fantasy 16 has been scant for quite some time, but with producer Naoki Yoshida having said not long ago that new details would be shared in spring 2022, it hopefully won’t be long before we hear more about Final Fantasy 16.

Ahead of that, here, we’re going to talk about a few of our own hopes and dreams for the game- or, to be more specific, some pitfalls that we’re hoping it’ll avoid.

This video is so dumb at points…we dont want linear we want open, but we dont want empty worlds…hunny they are always empty keep it in the range of tales of arise and dragon quest.how come all these other jrpgs have gotten better with time but final fantasy, the biggest rpg series gets worse.it makes no sense.its also a jrpg, the combat will be repetitive.i think yall needed to know the jrpg genre a lil better.

the best sidequest content had Final Fantasy X-2 – it was massive, colourful and a collector‘s dream.
My main gripe since FFXIII is the battle system, FFXV was utterly boring and limited to one single button. FF IX and X were imo the absolute peak in combat

He's right about a lot of this. Can't help but compare the last few console FF games to Dragon Quest IX & Tales of Arise and even though they're more traditional, they're more gripping. Maybe cause they have better stories, characters, & combat imo that isn't brimming with commercialism.

Nah I don't want an open world I prefer the FF7 Remake formula

You know damn well there's always going to be a boring side quests in any FF games

I don't want any more separate universes. As it sits, none of the games are actually tied to each other (except for 10 and 10-2). They have similar themes, creatures, and even deities but for whatever reason none of the stories connect. I don't like that. I want to see things that happened in previous games, not just as easter eggs, but as core parts of the plot. For example, I'd love to see Sephiroth return as an antagonist, either as a spirit or as a reincarnation. Hell, if we go the reincarnation route, i'd love for Sephiroth to show up as the main character. You get to play through one mission with him in the original ff7 and it was awesome. So, playing the whole game as him would be even more awesome.

A great and compelling story and lore.
They should have learned from FFXV. All hype but meh end product.

Most of the issues with Final Fantasy came after FF10 when they tried to make the gameplay more in line with MMOs. For Final Fantasy I want:
    turn based combat
Side quests that have worthwhile rewards
Great story where everything you see means something
A simple job system where the characters have a set starter class and then has to undergo a side quest to obtain the advanced level of that job. Like a character starts as a squire and then as a side quest can gain either dark knighthood or paladin by undergoing some sort of trial. Or a mage can have a choice of studying a special book and becoming either a dark or white wizard.
The best games in the series where 6,7, and 10. Draw back to those games.

FINAL FANTASY 7 remakes battle system was incredible and as deep as you wanted it to be.

  13. I think visually FFXVI has nailed it as well as the music from what we've heard. I would like a return to turn-based combat though and maybe the ability to make our own character to lead our party.

Why have a FF14 thumbnail? lol

Sorry to say this, but FF games or any RPG/JRPG in general will always have some form of boring and repetitive sidequest. It's the biggest thing that keeps players invested in looking for materials and other quest drops from their completions even if they still find them boring. Also to pad out the gameplay. It can be difficult for a company to always make only engaging and different sidequest without them feeling the same like any other rpg out there. It's just not possible.

  16. FALKYN LUOUXMONT

how about a story progression that rewards its completion, not curse it?

  17. ARIXANDRE

I just wanted Jack, from Stranger of Paradise, to always be the protagonist, from now on.

I dont want any rpg nonsense. Its clearly a hacknslash. Rpg elements ruin difficulty in hacknslash games. Game needs to be like dmc or bayonetta but with a ff world and story. You can unlock skills but have them all the time. No ap nonsense. You should be able to take on any enemy at any time, no level nonsense. The games combat is clearly taking center stage, THANK YOU CAPCOM. Square would have royally messed up the combat like they did in ff15 and ff7 remake as well as repetitive and ennoyingly long boss battles. This cannot happen in ff16. There must be a dmd like difficulty where everything is changed with enemy attack patterns, aggression, damage, damage reduction etc. Then you have the perfect videogame. Square really doesnt know the first thing of real time combat and have a problem with artificial difficulty. The only thing they excel at in terms of combat is turn based stuff. Thank god capcom(the god king lords of hacknslash) are working on the combat.

I don’t think we have to worry about the story in a game coming from Yoshi-P

“In other words we don’t want Nomura to have any involvement in it”.

  22. Bene Rio

This game will be the one that will pushed me to buy a PS5…

  23. I disagree, I’m starting to get sooooo bored with open worlds. The quality drops in my opinion. Linear games usually have better stories (MY OPINION DONT HATE ON ME). I’m a new gamer (of two months) but so far my two favorite games are ff7r and I just started uncharted. I love ff7r

  24. Fen Rir

Nomura not directing ff16 is a great sign for the story.

I've been watching the trailer since the ps5 showcase that took place in September 2020. I just can't get enough of it. I can't wait for the game to come out
