Avata 2 as a first FPV Drone

DJI Avata 2 has released April 11th, 2024 with 23m flight time, lighter than the original. First time FPV drone for me despite years of cinema drone use, and this was the experience. I don’t see a bridge besides this for beginners to enter FPV world without the stress and learning curve.
Its a much needed halfway point for a drone that can be treated like crap and still get great stuff (gopro realm)

2.7K 120fps

1/1.3” Sensor f2.8
DJI Goggles 3

RC Motion 3
23m Flight Time
4K H.265 60fps

23m flight time
Max Speed 60mph (42 EU)

10-bit Dlog M

Bottom & Rear Sensors
EasyAcro Smart Features

377g

12mp JPEG photos

46gb Internal Storage

8 mile max distance

O4 Transmission

Much less anxiety than normal drones, bumpers all around make this kind of normal to crash. Its not indestructible but I really abused this thing and it is still going fine.

Ultra Wide, Wide, Normal field of view, and turning on headtracking WITH stabilization off – then stabilizing with GyroFlow got some really crazy fun shots. Feels like VR skydiving with the headtracking turned on.

$999 USD Drone + Goggles 3 + RC Motion
$489 USD Drone Only

You will burn through these batteries though especially if you are having fun, so an extra is really suggested.
Googles flying takes some getting used to, get through that learning curve as soon as possible to get the stuff you see on Instagram with tons of views.

  1. I just got this drone the other day. Never flown FPV ever and its great and it really is a great choice. To double down my wife cannot play xbox she is the person who just cant figure out a first person shooter style game, shes aiming straight up at the sky sort of thing. My daughter has never flown a drone before and they both were able to pick this up and with only mild coaching fly it around. it is really fun.
    (video on my channel soon!)

  2. I was thinking what's the best drone for a beginner like me is it avata 2 or mini 4 pro….?😢

  3. @GenXJefferson

Great video, Drone God!!! yeah, I bought the first version but a year and a half ago, and I love it.

The exciting footage and dives down waterfalls is generally not done with that joystick controller.
I would love to see you get the DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 and try flying FPV in manual mode.
Could be some good content and lots of crashing 😂

  5. @Metzgee

He's back!! We will get you into FPV drones soon. Great video. Always like your real-world advice for DJI drones. They capture incredible images.

Can you just do… more videos?

    Please?

    Asking for everyone.

  7. Great video! I like your style. did you ever fly the first Avata? I bought that one a couple months after it came out and have hundreds of hours on the thing, crashed it multiple times and it's still flies like a champ. Originally I just had the Air2 S which is great for photos but the video felt too stationary, the Avata fit my needs perfect. I fly along the beach at Lake Michigan and it really achieves some dynamic footage, it's so easy to use with the joystick. I've let many of my friends try it and a couple of them have bought one because they had so much fun and the videos they've been taking are pretty incredible and they don't even know what they're doing when it comes to filming. bottom line is not only does this thing get great footage, it's a blast to fly, just don't buy one for photos as they're not that great. I'm definitely buying this new one, can't believe they made it cheaper than what the first one was!

No crippled puppies were hurt in the making of this video.

  9. Great work. It' s like you were taking what I was thinking and put it into an avatar, you , speaking about he Avata 2! Ha Poet!

This is the Avata 2 review I was waiting for. Great job Alex! Wish you'd find the time to post here more often, but I'll take what I can get.

I appreciate your review on the Avata2 coming from a camera drone world. I've always flown Mavics and I have some of the same concerns, but I always thought FPV drones were cool. The Avata 2 lets you fly immediately while you're learning more advanced modes.

Been waiting for your review on this one, oh great big sarcastic man!
