    Budget!!? What's that!!!?
Edit: the best part of living for 49 years is that it feels good to be PAID well. Hard work works! Worrying about finances can be a thing of the past. I buy whatever parts i want now, no sweat.

😂😂😂 I had a 920 back in the day…good times, then went for Xeon x5650…

Ryzen 3? Honestly its been so long I dont hear people talking about it anymore. Then again like people buying a r3 would be on a really really tight budget.

The thing is though at the lower end it really just boils down to motherboard options. That aside, you also have so many older cpus competing against each other

I do wonder though how many people upgraded from older cpus and sold their cpus second hand, could be interesting option.

Intel 12th gen is in this weird spot where 13th gen (not even counting 14 gen), so its squeezed in on both sides where its not like really old, but not new either.
It does kinda complicate the question when you have to look at alll those cpus (and then comparing amd and intel motherboards)

Sometimes its just a matter of snapping up a good deal in the right time and place.

Reminder for the 5,283rd time, the name of the main channel is "Tech Deals."
We all know the "best" chip on a given platform doesn't drop in price like the others, so they're logically worse values to buy after the platform gets old. The issue with AM4 is that there are two "best" CPUs: 5950X for best cores, and 5800X3D for best cache.
I upgraded from a 3600 to a 5950X in 2022. That wasn't a mistake, it was an indulgence. I knew I didn't need it. I was just the PC version of that guy turbocharging a car that he has no intention of taking to the race track. It was fun.
So if you bought a 5800X3D, you got to indulge yourself. Enjoy it. Just because it's not "the deal" doesn't mean it's not a great chip.

30% @ 1080p with a 4090….yet they just keep preaching it!!!! The biggest problem with the youtubers doing the reviews is they are sheep. One tuber comes up with a chart and everyone one repeats that data on their own "news" channel. There is no variance of opinion as they are condemned for drawing outside the lines.

  6. @yakbreeder

    "Should i upgrade my 5700X to a 5700X3D?" 🤣 I kid, I kid.

  7. @micdraypr1855

    black friday/xmas I got a 12700KF / z690 itx d4 for $330 to replace my 8086k/z370i. I paid more for the 8086k itself in 2018.

  8. I 100% felt like i made a poor choice when i bought my 3070 for msrp back in 2021. At the time i really should have just forked the extra money for a 3080 which was also at msrp at best buy. The 8gb of vram did not meet my expectations. Live and learn

  9. @bassgoul

CPUs that do better at 1080p with a 4090 will more than likely do better at 1440p in 3 years as well. Longevity for a gaming use case would be my argument. All that said, i would not pay the extra money for extra cache
