Hey Chaps! If you could add 1 feature to the XPS 15 – what would it be? (for me, 90 or 120hz refresh)

  2. mahadevovnl

Boy, oh boy! They put a STICKER on the laptop that leaves glue remains for the rest of humanity! Joy! I am sold! SOLD!

Other reviewers say this laptop isn't loud but I'll go with Tom's review. Thanks Tom. My major issue with my 9500 is that it gets so hot and loud and throttles. I do audio. Loud is no bueno.

I love the xps 15 but had to return buy and return several after seeing darker corner areas on every single screen. It’s confirmed as ‘by design’ but does anyone lose notice this as a poor lighting effect of the screen? Everyone always bangs on about ow amazing it is but this is a consistent problem?

Heat would be a big concern for me buying this. If I was to spend this much on a laptop I would want it to be reliable and last me a while without breaking.

I used an XPS 15 in college but the battery and heat is lack luster. Nothing can beat the new M Series MacBooks I have the 14 inch and it’s incredible and with 12 hrs of battery it’s insane

Cant decide between the 9520 and the xps 13 plus. Would prefer more performance but the plus looks a lot nicer 🤔

Okay, so a BUNCH of people are just comparing the Dell XPS to the m1 macs in the comments, so I just want to make some things clear:

So I just got the XPS 15 9510 (2021 version) a few weeks ago, and let me tell you all, it is AMAZING!
I have the iPhone 13, and I personally like the XPS more than it!
The screen on the XPS is the best screen I have ever seen in a laptop – I like it more than the m1s because it has no notch. I found that the colors are also a bit more vibrant on the XPS. (Although the XPS is only a 60hz refresh rate, it really doesn’t make that big of a difference and the OLED makes up for it).
I got the same version that he recommends at 8:45, but with the 9510.
I actually got it for a little over $1,800 – $600 less than the same specs on the 2022 version! The XPS 15 from 2021 and the m1 pro (not the max) have very similar benchmarks, and the XPS from 2021 is currently $200 cheaper!
I highly recommend the 9510 – it exceeds all my expectations and runs really fast.
I’m also a casual gamer, and all the games I play run really well on high or ultra settings, with no lag as far as I have seen. The macs can’t even play the games that I play.
The fans also barely turn on, and when they do, they are very quiet, and are a pleasant whooshing sound.
To sum it up, the 2021 version of the XPS is amazing, and I highly recommend it.

All in all though, it really comes down to personally needs, like if you need Windows for something or if you need Mac for something.

I have always liked the ThinkPad's more than the XPS laptops. Right now, my current laptop is an X1 Yoga Gen 6. It has been flawless running both Windows and Linux.

Waiting for your review of the new XPS 13 9315

  12. Not Ok OK?

Dell getting more and more incompetent there are far more better option than this "premium laptop"

  13. ferdinand he

Asus has much better choice with high end oled panel and higher performance

Why start off a product review giving the advantages of a different product that you use. You establish an immediate bias against the product. It's just flat out stupid.

some people just don't like macbooks or macOS. i don't know if it's a good thing comparing it with something not windows centered

  16. Kysen10

I have last years model sitting right next to me as I watch this video and the fan is on full blast. 0:43 is too true.

I too went from the XPS 15 to the m1 Max………. I won't be returning anytime soon. The Apple is just amazing

I think you're pretty harsh on the laptop! From what I've seen in your review, it's got better battery, better graphics – an overall improvement on last year's model. Sure it might be an iterative update but those are decent performance bumps from the older model. Plus you also mentioned it starts at a cheaper price than last year's model which is great!

I get what you mean about the same design but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The design is a subjective thing after all but also not everyone loves the minimal look of the 13+. You wouldn't exactly call that design 'traditional' and I'd expect more customers to prefer this design over the 13+ (which very much feels like an experimental, one off design). That's just me though!

the GPU's dell puts in these suck. For that much money, they need to at least have a 3070TI. I just moved to a 14" macbrook pro and I have to say, its much better and much more quiet. The dell spins up the fans non stop doing simple things like browsing. I'm selling the dell.

I was going between this and the new Zephyrus G15 for my desktop replacement this year and decided to go with the Zephyrus. I don't regret my decision – it has a 165hz 1440p screen which is really the sweet spot in terms of resolution rather than choosing between FHD which is a bit too grainy for my liking and 4k which is overkill and eats battery. It also has a great keyboard and trackpad although I still prefer my M1 Air's in both of those regards (which I am still keeping for my on-the-go laptop) and I was able to upgrade the RAM and storage to 40GB/4TB which is enough for everything i'm doing.

A little bit thicker base with vapour chamber and upto rtx 3070 ti (80 watt) with 144 hz non OLED display under 2 kg with HDMI 2.1 and atleast 2 usb a and 100 watt hour battery and at last a good 1080p webcam will put it neck to neck with mbp 16 M1 Max.

I've actually spoken to someone from the XPS team and he said that they will never add a high refresh screen to the XPS lineup. According to dells laptop building principles, higher refresh rates are only reserved for Alienware laptops and while they do add to the overall fluidity of the OS, dell doesn't believe it is worth it to the battery life and cost compromise. They might change their mind in the future but we won't see it anytime soon.

Pls review Lenovo legion 7i 7th gen 2022 version!

The MPB is not quite under heavy load, the fans do turn on .

I got taken in with the XPS hype – twice. The last being the 15 9370 with 4k screen. Was good to use but suffered from poor battery life and software issue when machine froze, and wouldn't reboot – a known fault which requires a special reboot key sequence. I was in a meeting and had to switch back (luckily) to an old latitude i5. Never mentioned is the super sized charging brick which is unique and the connector, again unique in the Dell range. This means you have to buy multiple power bricks if a professional user (and dont want to carry it around – you wouldn't because its very big and heavy!!!). Aha you may say, how about connecting to a USB charger – which is what I did (Dell hub) but again, this requires the super large Alienware charger. A laptop it is not, more akin to the old "transportable" machines from the Compaq / IBM days of the 80s – so if you want a "Laptop" then the XPS is not. If however, you want a transportable, then I dare say it fits the bill, if the software issue has been resolved!

I used an XPS for 3 years and I regretted buying it after a few months 🙁 . It was too loud and hot for almost any task. I have a Surface Laptop Studio now, a whole new level in terms of comfort, but of course, not that powerful 🙂 .
