Disable Windows 11 Services You Don't Need

Disable Windows 11 Services You Don’t Need
Windows 10 and Windows 11 are known to be system resource hogs that eat up all your system memory and use a lot of utilisation of the system which can make the pc feel sluggish and slow. So disabling unwanted services in windows 11 can help gain back the needed system resource. Remember to only disable unnecessary services in Windows 11. So you may ask, what services can I disable in Windows 11? The services that you don’t need.

Example: Connected User Experiences and Telemetry: This will disable Feedback, Telemetry and Data Collection.

Windows 11 services are a crucial part of Windows and disabling Windows services can make some features of Windows not work. So I advise people not to tweak Windows in this way other wise you run the risk of breaking Windows 11. Remember if a service is set to manual and the service is not running, it will not impact the PC. Only running services impact the computer and take up system resources, but if you have a modern computer, your utilization and system resources should be minimal.

I JUST DISABLE SOME OF THE STUFF IN YOUR VIDEO BUT WAS SELECTIVE, I STILL HAVE NEARLY 200 RUNNING PROCESSES WHEN TELEGRAM-DISCORD AND YOU TUBE RUNNING BUT NOT NOTICING MUCH NEGATIVE PERFORMANCE ON MY LAPTOP. UTILIZATION IS RUNNING AT 25%. THANKS FOR THE TIPS THUMBS UP FROM ME

How do you get the start menu like that?

  4. Vance Cost

@Britec09 When I go to disable Windows Defender a box pops open Access Denied. I am the Administrator.

Hello, I am grateful to you for your attention, your time, and your knowledge in creating, producing, and editing this fabulous video!

Thank You again, Brite. Great info. Much appreciated. Oh for Win XP :-),,, having been "forced" into Win 10

  7. I understend when you disable services on Windows XP, but on 11? Also, we get reduce of memory usage(b1,8-a1.5), but all resalts of disabling insignificant, imho. Windows 11 installed on modern PC (i don`t see any reason for avarege user to install 11 on old PC, except graphic design) and in most cases this manipulation don`t bring you any boost of performances that you can feel.

Sorry bad video, Windows 10 & 11 are more than capable to stop services on it's own when not needed. You disable a lot of services that were not running at the first place. Also people might not known for example that if you use Windows My Phone (Android) – to control and manage calls, sms etc with your phone it needs Bluetooth. You don't gain lot of FPS sudden if you do this.

  9. Long John

Put Bluetooth to Manual, then it only starts up when you actually need it and doesn't use any resources when you don't need it

Hey Brian missed you a lot.
I use sordum service optimizer give it a try mate.
Not sure whether it supports windows 11 coz I'm on win 10. 🙂

Thanks for the video. You showed us your video how to back up and restore Group Policy. Is there the way to back up and restore Services ?

  12. Rob Dvorak

Thanks for including additional explanations on the services that you disabled.

  13. dave smith

stopped 2 services then when stopping ip helper was warned it would stop intel(r) dynamic application iloader host interface service. so I stopped ? thanks anyhow.

This is so difficult to decide. Older software may still depend on their own active x ocx's for their functionality rather than using dll's. Also, some services may have dependencies to parent services. It's really up to the developers which have their own style of coding. A good way to check these issues can be monitored with system internals. Unless those services are clearly defined, my practice is – if you have a decent system (cpu, ram, etc.), they are doing no harm and left alone. You never know when you install an app that will suddenly depend on services you disabled. What a quagmire ! Good one Brian – Thank you sir!

Services are not hurting anybody whether they be automatically enable if called upon or manual.

Printer services will automatically be active when you want to, well, print something and go back into hibernation when you deem you are done.
Blutooth sync, if the service is disabled or manual, Windows will not be automatically able to detect and pair a Blutooth capable device automatically.,

  16. Jon B

Some Microsoft updates will restart services after they have been installed.

Brian could this video also apply to Windows 10? My problem is understanding of the services is very limited apart from the absolutely obvious like the Xbox stuff as most of the explanations of services are to me quite ambiguous. I would like to see a video on what to do with processes in the task manager too.

(To Microsoft) Watcha Guys gonna do when Britec runs wild on you.

  19. Len

How about a similar guide for W10 users? I imagine many will be the same.

  20. James Hutton

All your videos are very informative and have value and this one is no exception. As a tech myself I would like to point out however, that many of the services you mention are set to "Manual" and aren't already running and therefore won't account for CPU usage. As a best practice, I almost always leave this setting as is in case Windows, being the fickle thing that it is, requires it.

  21. id love to put windows 11 on my main desktop but when i enable secure boot on my motherboard it bricks my windows 10 (it wont boot/show the uefi in the bios)
i have the asrock x570 phantom gaming motherboard
tpm 2 is already enabled (bios update did that) and im on the latest bios version and i know my 3700x is supported
if i look in windows 10 it says legacy install
got any ideas how to fix it so i can install windows 11 without making/using a modded windows 11 install (just in case microsoft decides to brick those kinds of installs in the future)

  22. Hi, Brian, I saw another video about this but forgot who did it but I do remember he said it is better to set them to manual than to disable them but some I feel are better to disable like remote desktop

  23. Lime

Touch keyboard and Handwriting panel service disabled will cause you not to be able to type in CMD/Powershell.

  24. Silfrido

Unfortunately when you upgrade to windows 11 you can’t disable all of the services. some of them you have to leave alone which is unfortunate.

On windows 10 that’s not the case. I can disable a few extra. I have about 37-38 processes running while idle. while gaming it goes up to 44-47.

On windows 11 It’s locked to 55-57 while idle. & in my opinion thats annoying. your basically gaining extra system latency if you switch.

  25. AI4n.11

Will this all wrk on win 10 as well

  26. Zuikanni

Hey I have a question with my Lenovo idea pad 3. So like it won’t turn on when I plugged in. Do you know like have an idea for to fix it?

  27. Buzz

Unrelated question from a new sub. I have a 1TB SSD, I am using just under half. The other day, I startedup the system and noticed over the past few days us useage my 1TB is now just under full. I added nothing, sent a few Gov emails, watched youtube, and have no idea what happened. Any ideas how to clean and where did it come from? I just watched your how to clean vid from 2 years ago. Great vid.
