No wonder people love Hamilton! This thing is simply gorgeous because it is gorgeously simple, and has a fantastic contemporary cinema story to go along with it. Could do with some more AR, better lume, and a few hundred dollars off though. Cheers! Jody

  1. For less than 100 bucks you can get the Steel Diver pilots watch that's 80% of the way towards this one.

  2. @DavidUKesb

38mm is a much more realistic size but this doesn't look anywhere near as good as the Khaki Field in black.

  3. A smart marketing ploy to please 38mm fans and significantly increase the retail price compared to similar Hamilton Fields. Surely it's a 'Murph' lookalike as it's the wrong size and the Morse code is absent on the seconds hand, which misses the point of the movie character's association? Still, it's a nice watch but at a hefty premium IMO.

  4. @angusturrado

Why they don't just scale the thing, 36mm for example. i don't like this shorter lug to lug version

  5. @nakapaa

If it was handwound, Hamilton has created the perfect watch!

  6. @tiolete76

When will you finally do a behind the scenes tour of your shed aka the watch channel studio 4.0? 😊

  7. @brynroberts9880

I got the 42 primarily because the 38 doesn't have the Morse code on the seconds hand. It would have bugged me not having it

  8. @russparkin6722

i bought this uk with 10/15% off from ernest jones, think i ended up paying £700, but 100% worth it, the power reserve is excellent, the finish is great and it keeps time so well. dont hesitate

  9. @Cravenfr

Well, bad AR, bad lume, outrageous bad that morse code is lost in the process. I guess it goes with our time, milking iconic thing and franchise until it make no sense.

  10. @ironichumorist

i have the Coop and i love it. worn more than any other of my watches. i will be having this murph.

  11. @marcdee4427

Have you reviewed the longines spirit? It’s absolutely beautiful and comes in 40 mm 37mm and 42mm it’s also a chronometer. The lume is really top notch and generally is a lovely watch

  12. @clifforddean232

Call me crazy but this is more classy looking versus the No Time to Die watch at 1/3rd of the price.

  13. @scrhunter3901

4 herz are always better. I got the khaki field in 42mm. Its beautifull but the lume is very very bad… ok its a fieldwatch… the crystal has no AR coating!!! Its not easy to see the watch clearly in mad light conditions. I think the hamilton watches looking great but they are to expensive for that what you get for the money. I wount buy an hamilton again. 3herz sucks. The second hand ticks like an seiko 5 watch. And the merv is the same watch like the khaki but kosts much more. Its beautifull but to expensive vor the package….

  14. I went for the 42, and the lugs were weirdly fitting on my very flat shelf’s 7 inch wrist …which usually eats up 42 mm watches, even dressers up to 42 inches…but this 42 rode very high, almost tenting, I sold it and am contemplating going back to the smaller of the 2 …that’s how much I miss this beautiful piece…it is one of a kind, ..if you’ve worn the bullhead Bulova parking meter…it’s the same issue. Anyhow…freaking awesome piece nonetheless the less .

  15. @alexmood6407

Nah, these Powermatics are basically disposable movements. Cheaper to replace than to service.

  16. @pdaddy_

The 42 mm case would have been fine with more appropriate lugs.

Looking at the lug-to-lug in proportion to the diameter:
    44 / 38 = 1.158
    52 / 42 = 1.238
If the larger case had lugs in the same proportion as those on the smaller case, it would have been about 48.6 km lug-to-lug.
    48.6 / 42 ≈ 44 / 38

This would have made the larger case much more reasonable for many more people.

However, the price is a different problem…..

  17. @larx4074

Great and incisive review Jody, of……………….. THE most yawn inducing watch this side of any Rolex……………………….

  18. @1972mdc

Love the watch. Used to like Matthew M but he drives me crazy now…such a cheese…can no longer get the watch due to him 🙁

  19. @joem5140

Do we now just price these as 3x Erebus' – not much value then.

  20. @BManningtree

Great that they listen to customers, but Hamilton`s pricing has gotten a bit silly. They also want ~1000€ for a Ventura with mineral crystal and a basic quartz movement.

  21. @allrightknight

Hamilton logo is too big. The bulge on the hand is too big. It’s kind of boring overall ✌🏼🇺🇸

  22. @iFyvie

Metal bracelets for this watch are available with Strapcode too, I think – which ups the versatility. Hamilton make great watches.

  23. It is a gorgeous watch. But some way out of my price range. It would be great to see you cover some affordable alternatives as I love the watch.

  24. @bifflee3603

I think there are at least 3 homages of this on Ali now, think I'll opt for one of those and save some money

  25. @bornodnoc1034

That's a big price for an ETA tuned down. 28 thou all the way.

  26. @9mmmike642

42mm camp here. I have an 8 inch wrist with no knuckle so I wear my watches below my “no knuckle”. This causes 3 o’clock crowns to dig into the back of my hand. I will no longer buy 3 o’clock crowns, 4 o’clock please.

  27. @1988banker

Wearing your Murph, driving around in your Lincoln MKZ. Doing that index finger thumb circle. "Alright"

  28. @Rick-ve5lx

Beautiful watch but the Field Automatic is just as good for less money.

  29. @whichwatch5651

"Love that watch! Yeah, sure Id like to buy. . . It's how much? Huh. . . Do you have any Tissots?"

  30. I liked this when it originally came out, but I ended up with the Cooper day date pilot watch. which I do enjoy, but ive said before. Hamilton are….fine….they dont set me on fire much. Although i do enjoy the Khaki field mechanical.

  31. @ivanharlokin

Thanks for the video Jodie. It's nice that they are responding to fan requests – although I must admit, I don't understand the fuss. I'd rather have an Oris Big Crown.

I'm amused how Swatch claim that their sub-brands are 'independent' and, at the same time, that movements from the wider conglomerate count as 'in-house'.

  32. @kinarrakid5036

Beautiful simple watch. I'd choose the larger size, but too much AUD for me. So not yet……….
