No one explains things like you do Brian. I agree that a complete restore would be helpful especialy from an old computer to a new build inserting new drivers. Thanks for your descriptive teaching.

It would have been nice if the video had also covered the topic of point in time restores.

It looks from the interface like Acronis is still holding on tight to the frankly ancient tape backup logic where you choose the date first and the file second. It still astounds me that so many backup solutions do it that way round. If I want to restore a file I obviously care little for the date, I want to see the available versions and then pick the appropriate date (possibly I don't even care about the date, just that I get the second latest version). Unfortunately enterprise solutions aren't much better. Veeam does it the same way, but with the added cherry that you have to restart the entire restore process every time you want to switch date which takes a couple of minutes.

    Sorry about the rant. 🙂

Can I use a backup made from Acronis 2016 with latest updates made on the Windows 7 pro platform to recover only data files to be used in the newly installed Windows 10 upgrade? For some reason the upgrade did no bring the data files across. I made the full backup from windows 7 just a couple of days ago

Hey Thanks Britec09, if you have made a video of recovering the entire OS from an Acronis backup that would be great. Windows 8 crashed on my PC, after reinstalling Win8 all files from the local account were deleted.

Is there a way to merge an old back up with a new one that contains programs ? and keep the programs active in files prior to merge as well as the newly merged programs?
