No I'd say video games are sucking the joy out of video games in 2024, but the layoffs suck too because, as well as people's personal suffering, they minimise any chance that things will get better.

Is like eat meat and been sorry about the cows. And i dont want to be vegan πŸ˜‚

  3. The industry is seeing a high % of lay offs but it is important to acknowledge the size of the industry these days. Healthcare saw 60k layoffs in 23, though that industry is 9x larger

  4. So odd.. didnt mention the higher search engine score of "refund" for a recent suicide squad epic fail.. or WHY it, and the games forced focus on said same failure the last three years… All coincide. HMMM.. wonder why? Something is broke.. and profits seem to match this failed investment against what actually sells. Why, its almost like there is a disconnect between.. reviews.. and reality. Crazy huh?

  5. @gabungan69

Good, To much woke maggot in game studio right now

  6. Only 6k? Sounds like we're just getting started. Disappointing but this is the economy.

This creature imitating a andro male is precisely why gaming is bad. Irs not layoffs. It's women.

  8. Now this is good reporting! Working conditions in the game development industry have been abysmal for decades! One of my best friends, whose dad worked on Daikatana and other big titles from 20 years ago, was forced to sleep at work for months during crunch time on many of the games he worked on. This is not an expectation you see in most other professions, and it's not one that should be tolerated when studios drop entire departments of devs like Woody in Toy Story as soon as they're ready to publish.

finally, a media state the truth about the layoff. I'm so freaking tired of those CNBC shxt trying to attribute the layoffs to AI.

  10. @frishter

How many people will vote for more of the same?

  11. @Steve30x

It's the €70 price tag for a game you don't own sucks the joy out of gaming.

  12. @pieceofshitzu2

The rich are destroying all parts of so many industries.
That's why we need to unionize!

  13. The world is on fire, we're on the brink of a world wide war and you people are worried about video games? Yep, this is why our western civilisation will fall. Damn you idiots, I suggest you people hit the gym, you'll need to be fit when deployed in the Middle East or China. xD

  14. @jameshenry6855

Yes well done on raising the issue around layoffs. Strong unions are definitely needed within the industry.

Thank you for reporting on this. Lots of talented people are now back in the wading pool. No one is safe out there
