I then give you evidence for the release date I’m predicting, as well as other leaks involved.

I then go through a bunch of Apple patnents to explain exactly how the current M1 Ultra chip works in terms of the 10,000+ UltraFusion die-to-die metal stitch connections.

Finally, I go through various leaks, patents and diagrams to explain how Apple’s quad-chip M2 Extreme will work and how much performance we should expect.

M1 Ultra starts at 4000 the pc would be approx 8000 which isn’t expensive for companies like Nasa so they might have a market

  3. Morony Andrade

i would have tried to put 2 SSDs on one mac studio (since you got 3 of those) so we can see if it can recognize both ssds.

  4. MVE

Anyone knows how Apple is going to make the new Mac Pro Apple Silicon modular and upgradable ? Can you upgrade memory, SSD, slots, discrete video cards etc?

  5. Sami

Break the Performance? Same time break the bank account 😂

Is there a link To an English version of this video?

  7. Edipo G

really good video, I still think that Apple should keep the pci express slot, would be dumb end that, have pci slots and give users options to expand even more, like for example, use HBA for connect external storage or expand with pcie express ssd, would even happen them on the server space.

What if they made connections on all 4 sides. M1 Infinity

  9. Po Taters

i dont know a word this man said but yas!!

This is beyond cool. When Apple innovates it’s own technology instead of relying on other parts for their computers I get so excited. It’s the same feeling when all the rumors for iPhone 3G we’re going around… it’s so cool

Excellent video, really appreciate the effort put into researching all this!
I definitely think this is what Apple might end up doing for the Mac Pro.
But I think it is improbable that Apple releases Mac Pro in June WWDC, with a new generation of Apple Silicon that too starting with the highest, most complicated architecture.

  12. M1/M2 Extreme will be like Duo M1 Ultra thats for sure, but I can bet u on this that that ll not be one chip as Apple itself clarified that M1 Ultra is the last to the family. So in Mac Pro which is still left ll have Duo M1/M2 Ultras as 2 x physical processors. Else Apple never had said that M1 Ultra is last to d family

never even touched apple products but that's really impressive😍

The current Mac Pro's PSU is 1,400w. Since we have to take into account that it may have a bunch of PCIe slots, I could see Apple use at least a 500w, but I think we'll see more like 800w+. Just remember that these are the max wattage, but a constant use case, so the system may just use 368w or less at max load without any additional cards. None of this is a big deal, I had a 1,000w in my last Hacintosh. I almost ever needed that much power, even with all the slots maxed out. It's just nice to have the extra head room if you need it, and Apple needs to account for a possible high power drawl with any slots they may include. Let's just HOPE that they give us slots in the Mac, at least 6, but ideally the same 8 that we have now.

As they say, “The Devil is in the details” and yall have definitely giving us lots details.

At the age of 7, in 1962, I was given a transistor radio as a Christmas present, it had 5 transistors, and was the latest in technology, now, 60 years later, my iPhone, iPad etc, have billions of them in each device, what a world of change I have seen, its amazing.

Thanks so much for this awesome in depth research, really appreciate the quality and value of your content! Any thoughts on wether this new chip will be Arm V9 based on your previous videos covering this subject, what about using 3nm and dare we even consider the possibility of PCIe Gen 5/6, seems like the only way to utilize and saturate all that massive bandwidth…

  19. Andre Noble

I think the ultra is just hokey. The max is good enough.

  20. Guru Gamer

@Max Tech when will Apple announce M2 Pro or M1 Pro replacement?

  21. Dhruv Kumar

Yeah no, it's going to compete with Milan CPUs and RTX 4090.

  22. Ulrich Munzert

ok, but there is now a whole lot of power – how are we going to use it? Software updates? So the processes get passed around to the "free" chips? Are they doing it in Software (MacOS) or in Firmware? – on the board?

  23. kevin kearney

How will this affect single core performance? This is still a bottleneck and it seems like everything but that is being upgraded (but I hope to be corrected).

  24. Abe Dillon

My pet theory is that the Mac Pro will feature 4 M1 Max dies connected by an I/O die and the I/O die will also have tons of PCIe lanes. The reason is: the old Mac Pro was capable of supporting 1.5 TB of RAM at ~141 GB/s. A RAID of 10 SSDs each on PCIe 5.0 x4 slots could theoretically beat that bandwidth while offering far more than 1.5 TB of capacity. More like 8 to 32 TB. Latency would be much much higher, but that's what the super-fast on-package RAM is for. 256 GB of DDR5 at 1.6 TB/s aggregate bandwidth is one hell of a cache!

  25. Michael B

Cool but it going to be very expensive. Similar prices to the cheese grater Mac.

  26. awvandijke

Wow that was impressive! Well done and a great work investigating all technical details. And even when you might not be 100% right, i think you came as close as anyone could. Thanks for all your great videos. 🙏🏻👍🏻

  27. Kaysha

Can't wait to discover what they have in store. Max overkill 🔥

  28. Martin B.

c'mon! Server manufacturers (IBM, Sun) did combine CPUs on-die for decades! Also, there were dual-CPU-Intel-boards in the mid-90ies, though, the CPU-interconnect was of course slower. Apple also sold dual Power604 machines, AFAIR.
All this has nothing to do with a better desktop, you just get more power, but cpu power ist just one factor of a good desktop machine.

Intel Fanzies have already changed their pants like 5 times over the past 12 months. Time to buy more stock in Acme Trouser Co. before June… And please, remember to TURN OFF YOUR FANS before they get hit!

  30. If the m2 gpu is better than the m1 gpu the m2 extreme will be better than the 3090 but when this happen we will have the 4090 and no the m1 ultra no is the same than the 3090 idk where apple do the benchmark

  31. Foxy Visions

Hey but about the cooling… the studio ultra is running really cool when maxed out like if it’s limited..

  32. AMPERE MAM

This thing is going to become a threat to some governments around the world. It's just too much power too much raw performance and let the quantum computer take a good swig of this.

  33. BL HS

I totally knew they weren't going to leave it as two, it was going to be quad, and soon. Thanks for confirming. Now what to freaking buy.

  34. Mega Mac

How will they brand four connected M2s that are themselves multi-core? “Quad M2”/“M2 Quad” arguably underserves/misleads as to its true power
