I've been needing a new laptop for a while but I'll bide my time until the qualcom chips are released and see how Windows on arm works with them before I make my mind up whether I go mac or windows.

I find Apple is far more careless when it comes to OS updates and backwards compatibility. We held off for the longest time upgrading the mac in our music studio because we've been burned by programs being broken with updates, and new annoying glitches that are hard to pin down etc.

The ONLY Windows laptop that I like and the one I actually own after having many many Macbook Pros is the RAZER BLADE.

I bought my 2nd Razer Blade this past Christmas and i love the sleek aluminum design like the Macbooks while actually providing a solid Game performance with the RTX 4080.

Outside of that laptop, I still think Macbook Pros are the best overall laptops out there.

  4. Firs time in my life i decided to buy Macbook and i did it. One month ago i bought Macbook Pro M3 Pro and honestly it was a big mistake. Build quality is great no one can argue about that but for me positive things end right here. Everyone talks about great battery life, honestly i do not want to say all this people lie but for me it is a lie. For example one situation from my regular day. Running only Google Chrome and only ONE tab which is Youtube and video quality 1440p and in 3 minutes lost 9 % battery, now tell me is this normal ? Or no youtube just serving in a browser and in 5 minutes 15 % lost battery is this normal, or i am a photographer and sometimes i use tether shooting using Capture One and my display brightness 80% and in 10 minutes lost 30% battery is this normal? You get my point and short answer Macbook Pro is garbage. In advance i want to say thet i know how to use computer properly, all my settings done very properly battery optimization is on battery health is on display almost 70 or 80 % no matter on battery or plugged in to power outlet. not running 250 browser tabs at the same time, not running 40 programs at the same time

My M2 Max is collecting dust because I can't stand the terrible windows management in Mac OS. For laptop usage it is fine, but when docked I much prefer Windows. And nothing beats Windows application ecosystem.

  6. @bosse1998

Never a Windows! More expensive in the long run.

  7. @Darkman03

Apple Silicon has nullified my interest in MacOS. I'd need a Mac for… Photo management in iPhoto? I'd still need a PC for VMware, Home Lab work, and Gaming. Macs are great for creators, and I have to believe the heavy recommendations of MacOS devices are due to the people who create blogs, articles, and videos reviewing these devices are using them for content creation.

Tried to switch last year with MacBook M1. Normally both my wife and me use Dell XPS 15 for work and 13 when traveling. Macbook ended up being used 3x in one full year. Ended up selling Macbook. Point is, switching is hard, stick with what you have used to and with what you will enjoy more.

Until Windows gets a decent chip that will run well without huge heat generation and fan noise, Windows machines are a distant second choice.

  10. Old school Windows user, but macbook pro for last 10 yrs, switching back to Windows for the Asus Zenbook Duo. Innovative form factor ftw.

  11. @brandonchan5150

Apple is robbing you charging 800 for 2 tbs of storage. Storage prices on the pc side has gotten so much cheaper over the years.

  12. @bbajr

really happy with my m1 macbook air

  13. @rozonery

If I'm not a "Video Editor", what are the chances I'll need a MacBook for in general?

When a Company advertised a lot of AI, AI this, AI that… You know that their products has nothing to compete and that they are lazy to innovate. Thats what Intel has been doing for the last decade!

  15. @bmc868

Mac vs Windows. It's depend on the OS. You like windows buy PC. You like MacOS buy Macbook.

  16. @DaveFogel

Been using Macbook pro max for 2-3 years. Its great, but the battery isn't near as good as they say it is. I would switch back to a PC when the battery is improved in a heart beat.

  17. @tannenguitar

Your question is wrong, but the answer is the same: Linux! ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. @NN010

I'm currently using an M1 Pro 14 inch MacBook Pro and I'm very happy with it. After using this laptop for over a year and a half, it would be hard for me to go back to a Windows laptop that didn't have comparable power efficiency (so either Windows on ARM or maybe an AMD-powered laptop). It certainly helps that I've been very deep in the ecosystem for a long time now & have a gaming PC at home (along with a PS5, Switch & various previous-generation Xbox & PlayStation consoles) I can use when I do want to game.

  19. @thundergato84

It's a Windows notebook for me. It's the price difference. I have a Legion 7i pro. It's used for work, and gaming.

  20. @jameshood6066

my current device is a microsoft surface go 3, i have had it for a couple of years and it stills works fine but it can get quite sluggish(some of the apps take a while to load) and the keyboard may need to be replaced, but for youtube and surfing its ok, crap for games though

  21. @Spork_of_Love

I stopped using a laptop when I came across the MS Surface Pro 8. I would perhaps consider an iPad pro, but I don't see myself going back to any laptop from the tablet/PC hybrid format anytime in the foreseeable future.

  22. @akay64x2

I like Windows but for me, it will be hard to go back to a Windows laptop till they can get at least a half decent trackpad, a lot of them still use ancient tech and are horrid to use. So much so that I sold my Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, got a Macbook Pro 2019 16" and run Windows bootcamp on it which runs a lot better than a dedicated Windows laptop, and damn that Apple trackpad and keyboard is a bliss to use.

  23. @DavidAddis

A balanced review Tom, good job! I was comfortable and warm in the Apple Walled Garden as well, but got tempted away by the Galaxy Fold. Now my next Laptop will probably be a Framework as I want to be able to upgrade and repair my own things.

  24. @saturnotaku

NVIDIA has said they're not doing a Super refresh for their RTX 4000 laptop GPUs. The M3 Pro 14 got me back to using macOS as my full-time daily driver laptop, and it's been fantastic. I was actually disappointed with the heat and noise of the M3 Max, even in the 16-inch model. The 12 CPU/18 GPU M3 Pro has been more than enough for my workflow, operates silently most of the time, and even has enough power to play the games I want during my travels and downtime.

  25. @narutodayo

It's all a tradeoff. If you're fine with glossy screens and the shallowest keyboards in the business, a Mac has a lot to offer, but if not, you're going to be constantly uncomfortable.

  26. @777kiya

Below a 1500 dollars, windows is the way to go. Above a 1500 dollars, the choice isn't simple.

  27. @agni1962

Well half my engineering apps and games donโ€™t even exist on mac, besides mac is too restrictive when it comes to customisation, cmon even wallpaper engine doesnโ€™t run there, the perfect laptop would be full fledged windows running on m series but we all know that ainโ€™t happening

  28. @salihdede8320

This is one of the worst comparisons I have seen in my life. There are just too many stuff that hasn't been compared and many of the stuff that are compared here are too subjective so there's no point to compare them.

  29. I would go to the team Zenbook even if I'm the last human left on yhe planet ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…
