Motorola Edge 50 Pro Review | Too many compromises?

Reviewing the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, a fresh 2024 Moto flagship sporting a triple lens camera with Pantone colour correction, slick leathery design and Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 smarts. But can the Motorola Edge 50 Pro compete with the best smartphones like the Nothing Phone 2 around this £599 price? And should you consider the Edge 50 Ultra instead?

Well, the performance is sadly limited compared with some close rivals. Gaming on Genshin Impact is a smooth enough experience, but I saw some lag using the cameras. Battery life is respectable however, as the Motorola Edge 50 Pro can happily last a full day as long as you don’t hammer the camera or play games non-stop. You’ve also got fast charge support, to power the battery back up in little time.

Those cameras are once again cause for consternation, though. That primary shooter struggles in lower light, despite producing bright, bold, natural images in clear daylight. The Moto Edge 50 Pro also disappoints when it comes to video capture, while the zoom skills are limited.

That pOLED screen is a stunner though, and I like the stock Android vibe. As usual, Motorola’s own apps are excellent. So there’s a fair bit to like about the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, but sadly not enough to sway from a Nothing Phone 2 or other affordable flagships.

man the fact motorola is charging half in India is such a shame…

  2. @Ramon____OC

Wow this phone fucking sucks, i appreciate the fact that you destroyed this phone without fear of not being sponsored again.

  3. Regarding the half price thing people are mentioning it is in India compared to UK I believe this phone is actually being made in India and the same is then sold to the rest of the world

  4. @ccoedo808

Display over type c and desktop mode with Motorola with wireless charger, stock android easy to flash, I love it.

  5. @SwiftPushkar

Ultra is way too costly 999 euros i e. 88k Indian Rupee. The processor is 8s gen 3 not 8 gen 3 ,ufs 2.2 ,no victus glass and 4500 mamp battery even in ultra is not particularly a tempting deal.

I managed to buy One Pkus 12 , white version 512 gb for £650 from Trading Shenzhen dite. Its better value.

  7. @blankpaper2471

The p-oled is the most trash display I ever seen. Oled is way better and have more contrast, better colours than that sh*t. If u are someone who love to watch content on a phone don't buy this phone.

  8. @GK-qc5ry

I wish they offered these specs on a non curved phone.

  9. @kyahua3

its quite unfair how its priced in eu
i just bought it for half the price here in india and for that price its probably the best phone rn(imo)

  10. @raushandey3103

Hey buddy, it was confirmed by Motorola Service person that this device has Corning Gorilla glass 5 protection

  11. @pasip4851

Motorola policy nowadays is to make cool looking phones, but performance is not that cool.

  12. This phone costs about 420 usd in india very worth it over here actually
Edit: Nvm don't buy the phone because it only has UFS 2.2 while other phones at the same or lower price have 3.1 or even 4.0 (x6 pro)

  13. @DashArticle

Curved screen? 😅😅 And Moto expect to people buy that 😅 some companies never learn never listen people. Majority of people don't buy any curved screen because people hate it 😅

  14. @Eye_of_Samadhi

2:16 Motorola claims it does have Gorilla Glass protection but an unspecified version so probably an earlier version like GG 3 or the like. Whatever it is it's old enough that they don't want to tell you 😂

  15. Uncle Spurt I had some difficulty finding sensitivity setting on my edge 40 too. I found it in the system settings of the Android settings (not the Moto app). I expect it to be the same on this thing

  16. @mazharshah5135

Thank you for not making a video today about the fucking new insta360 camera. Respect +10

  17. @vzuzukin

What are the midrange gen 3 snapdragon blowers we should be peeking at?

  18. @moneyarora4508

Getting the same in inr 27500 in India which translates to less than $ 325

  19. @fanisff

12R made this phone completely irrelevant

  20. @TheRiko83

All Moto phones have gorilla glass now after a recent partnership on all Moto phones

  21. @C.JG.

I hate rounded edges on mobile devices.

  22. @visordownn

You EU guys are getting ripped off by Moto, it costs ₹32-36k inr in India. Better just import it.

  23. @CrazyKaljan

Hey there Spurt! I was wondering do you use Android Auto and if so do you try out all the phones you review with it? Oh and it would be nice to know if there were phones that really had an issue with Android Auto))Cheers!

  24. @samtheman7366

Great and honest review! You are one of the few if not the only one that has made an proper review with english. Have you got your hands on the Edge 50 Ultra? Has it improved some of the battery/Camera flaws we see here on the Pro? I'm probably choosing a phone between the Edge 50 Ultra and OnePlus 12. Any key takeaways or opinions which way I should go? Battery and camera are the most important aspects for me.

  25. @jordanlucas9762

Dude you're a Grown man chill with the animated girls. It's wicked weird

  26. @adriancc4240

Is anyone still buying outdated curved screen phones now in 2024?

  27. @mgskela

shittiest company I've ever used and i will never use their phones again even free devices

  28. @CZP-01

3 software updates is cap. You're lucky if you get one

  29. @cactuspharmer

I'm currently using a edge 40 neo fed up of waiting for android 14 update. Motorola's software updates are shocking and probably a deal breaker when it comes to replacement.

  30. @thetechrealist

Does nobody care about Motorola being a Chinese brand?

The most important thing this means is that you can buy whatever other garbage Chinese phone you want that’s cheaper & better than any Motorola phone…

  31. @Rjl41

who's going to buy a motorola phone, really?!!!! Not me for sure!!!
