The M2 Pro and M2 Max is a great upgrade if you are on a Intel Mac or have no Mac at all.
But do you agree that you should wait until M3 if you have a M1, M1 Pro or M1 Max?

Not having 3nm is a big letdown but the affordable m2 Mac mini looks like a great product and is probably going to sell very well. M2 pro Mac mini is a great move to replace the old intel top spec Mac mini.

+25% year over year is actually pretty darn impressive. And Remember smaller dies equal more heat per square nm that has to be even more efficiently removed.. eventually smaller isnt always better in the world of thermodynamics.. how do you remove the heat eventually that will be the challenge.

I think Apple has a goal of 20-30% speed upgrade per generation. Like clock work. At least battery will improve with 3nm
Speaking from long experience it was quickly apparent that the M2 chip was just a stopgap for the M3. So wait.for the real upgrade.
Hoping editing softwares can fully utilise these extra cores and are made compatible with the Apple silicone
Yes if I already have M1 I'll wait for M3 because it won't be any massive upgrade with M2. But if you don't have any Mac then M2 is the best choice if your budget allows you

I am a bit underwhelmed by the new release of the m2 pro MacBook pros because I have been holding out for a while thinking they will be 3nm, and have the midnight blue color, but am going to buy the M2 pro macbook anyway since I'm still on an Intel Mac and just cannot hold out for a other year waiting.

Again tech reviewers baffled by once in a decade+ architecture change (and from lazy Intel at that) vs. regular year to year processing upgrades (which tend not to exceed 15% in general) – 20%/30%/better HDMI/more encoders/etc. is very very good for one year+small delay and same price – why is it so hard to be realistic and not hyped either way?
if you already have the M1 lineup chipset, its not reasonable to get the M2 anymore just wait for the next gen to upgrade to see and feel the differences, planning to have a macbook for architecture school but still broke hahaha. But this year I’ll more prioritize getting a phone upgrade from firstgen SE to a promax model🫠 informative vid as always Matt✨
