  1. The one things that watch reviews totally miss is privacy policy. Garmin’s privacy policy is awful. Polars is amazing.

This needs to be transparent in reviews. Garmin selling your data is supplementing R&D. This is not something to take lightly.

Great review man – holy cow they didn't fix the notification process/functionality! A reset brings any past notifications back all at once (and at 1am apparently). Yikes yikes yikes all around – mine arrives tomorrow. Great job!

  3. JS Wong

Great review. It'll be great to follow up with a long-term review a few months later to see what new firmware versions bring to the table.

  4. alan2023

Great. I will keep my vantage M. 🎉

  5. Dogman Fitness

Thanks for the review! I was really hoping Polar was going to nail it with this watch, but it looks like they aren't quite there yet. The HR sensor problem you talked about appears to be a firmware problem and was talked about on DC Rainmaker's video. He had excellent HR tracking until they did an update, then the HR tracking was off. I'm sure they will fix it with further updates. I'll still wait to upgrade my Polar Vantage M.

  6. I got mine and played with it. Workout, running and general wear. It’s miles better than v2. It is very comfortable and the doom sensor is much needed, much like Apple Watch. It’s comfortable on my wrist, doesn’t dig in like v2 does. It’s snappy for the most part. The only problem or nicpick is the gesture wake is slow to response. It would take half sec to display. It is very noticeable while running. Kinda annoying so I changed it to always on display for running only. Strap is great. Wish they use quick snap like Garmin.

    Overall it’s a great upgrade.

If you had to choose between this watch and the Suunto Race and the eco system which would you prefer?

  8. TheAlPaca02

Was really hyped on this watch and I am a bit sad about the software difficulties that it is facing. I remain hopeful that it will be fixed in a few weeks so I can still pick one up before the holidays. Really hoping that Polar gets their stuff together as I love their platform, plus the product is actually still made in Europe compared to Suunto and Garmin which are both 100% Chinese.

  9. Tic Tac

Nice video. No watch is perfect, my Garmin up an died in the middle of a marathon last week. If i could take the garmin maps, apple smartwatch features, polar recovery metrics and put them all into the new suunto watch body for a coros price that would be sweet!

  10. Marco Marabello

I was waiting for this review, thanks a lot! I am thinking about changing my Fenix 6 Sapphire and was curious about the V3. I think I will abandon the idea of getting the V3 even though I really like how it looks. Still undecided between the Forerunner 965, the Apex 2 pro, and the Suunto Race. Probably will end up with the Forerunner as the Suunto intrigues me but, as I understand, it doesn't have the same training tools as Garmin, for instance the suggested workouts and adaptive training programs which I like to have, or am I wrong?

  11. Fabricio Luna

Thanks Dave. Suunto is back. Vertical or Race?. Finland VS China. Cheers. Saludos desde México.

  12. jc

I think you meant a “price point with a lot of competition” instead of a “competitive price point” at the opening there – that would more likely apply to the Suunto Race.

  13. Is there a segment that is such die-hard Polar fans that they would spend their cash and use training time not knowing if a core metric like heart rate is measured correctly?
The V3 looks more like an early-stage beta product, except for the mapping features that look like something from the past.

  14. Real bummer about the crashes. That's the kind of crap because of which I ditched garmin. Was hoping for more from polar.
    Especially disappointing is the HR.

  15. Jim Beam

Amen, to your conclusion. I guess in a year this watch will be what it should have been in the first place. If the next Garmin Forerunner 975 gets ECG I might buy one. The Suunto Race has an inaccurate HR-sensor, so that one is not on the list, which is a shame. Or I will wait for Amazfit (yes, that´s right) and the T-Rex 3.

  16. Matt LeGrand

Amazing video as always! I'm so hopeful for Polar. Great company. They just need a home-run super badly these days. 🤞🏻

  17. UR

Can be found for 490€ already. Edit: As a Polar fan I couldn't spend 599€ on this and got my self an 955. I felt a bit bad when I saw it for 490€, but with the 955 I at least get a developed watch already.

  18. Dave, Great work ! how is this compare with the ignite 3 heart rate sensor? Thanks!

  19. K&C2UT4rmAZ

DC also said the watch randomly crashed when he would be out on a run/hike.
