The "longer lifespan" is a common myth. I replaced two ssds already and my hitachi drive still works
Neither. Get an Nvme gen 4 drive
You are biased af. SSDs are better, but only if you need speed and higher data density. Try affording to make a 30TB+ SSD array without being rich af. But yes, a SSD for frequently used files and the OS is better.
The correct answer is your computer has multiple Ports for a reason. Get both and use a storage pool.
I do not know where you live, but I have NEVER seen a NVME SSD have the same price as a HD of the same capacity.
Harddrives are still much cheaper per GB than about any SSD. Also the deterioration is the same for SSDs. SSDs are mostly limited by the number of writes so if you need lots of data storage and you write a lot to it then HDDs might be the way to go. For any regular PC though its SSDs all the way.
I didn't know SSD has better life as fuck
so why have i heard that hdd can do 30 years?
how is this a question in 2023
Find me a 22tb ssd for less than 700 and i will buy 10 of them to replace my hdds
Which motherboard has m.2 and not sata? I'm waiting for that example of "one or the other"
But if SSD dies, you will lost all your data in one moment. HDD is more durable.
Nah, still using hdd for storage, cheap af, using an m.2 for boot drive tho.
pagefile is an ssd killer, ill stick to sshd if expansion is not available
Me who has 128 ssd and 500 hdd and the ssd is still more expensive
Ooh ya?? How expensive is a measly 4tb SSD??
Anyone else remembers SSHDs ?
Just get an m.2
Wait longer life on a SSD? WHAT?
Hdd I would grab for some random things like unimportant files that I just need to keep for easy access and some single player titles that aren’t large in size, then the rest will go on my ssd
Hard drives are still way cheaper in big quantities 4tb to 8tb can often be half the price than the ssd equivalent option
Longer life span??
Above 2tb hdds become a lot cheaper than ssds
I mean i bought a refurbished 16tb hdd for 200 and i personally can't wait for a 16tb ssd for that price.
