It's something i only realized recently, but can you also benchmark VRM temps when testing these APUs? My 3400G with vega 11 overclocked to 1600mhz + CPU undervolted to 1,3v@3.8ghz would slowly increase VRM temps to +100ºC on my b450 Aorus M while gaming (that motherboard is known for lacking a heatsink on one high side mosfet). I think it's important to know whether said mini PC can handle long gaming sessions without hurting it's lifespan.

What was the price from Best Buy??? Also, is it Windows 10/11 Pro or Home??? Can’t stand Home it is a worthless O/S. Also, don’t go to Windows 11 yet, too many bugs in it. That is from my 30 years of dealing with Windows all the way back to Windows 3.1 Server & Desktop O/S.

And yeah I would definitely love to see some Star Citizen on there. That is my real benchmark.!

It really doesn't matter where you go in the game. I know all the FPS for each area. But I would actually recommend just going into FTL. And just benchmark it from there. Or stopped out in the middle of space. Depending where you are. It can actually be better than FTL. Or if you really want to slam it. Just benchmark Waking up from pretty much anywhere.

In any case. It's that game. Running on any of the systems you are showcasing that will tell me exactly the level of performance it's capable of. Granted with better drivers or different software and or games. It could have different performance.

But I like you. Am enthused by many PC's. And that's a problem for me because my favorite game is Star Citizen.!

So yes I could just go balls to the wall and spend like five grand or more. But many PCs are way cooler. Yes I'm aware you can make some pretty good mini PC's. But one of the cool things about mini PCS is usually their priced in performance. Which is strange when you consider that you're probably still paying a premium for it's form factor.

So yeah. If you just test the same ship in FTL to and from the same location. And run that 3 to 5 times for an average. Although if you're on a good server once is enough.

I super hope to see some good results.

    Superb videos always. 👍👍

A comparison with the ASRock Deskmini x300 would be very interesting

Can tell us what we're on the screen in the end. It felt like screen savers?

I must say, for someone like me who lives in a tiny house on batteries and has to count every watt of power usage on a day to day basis… Your information on power consumption is utterly invaluable. For years now, I have relied on your videos when I shop for a mini PC, Tiny Gaming PC, SoC, Monitors, Hardware and Accessory suggestions, Etc.
Being a gamer and heavy PC user on a Lithium/Solar setup, even a large one, means you are counting every watt to ensure basic services and household appliances over things like computers. Space is also a consideration in a tiny house. The smaller the PC with the most horsepower at the lowest power budget is an absolute must.

In my 36ft tiny home on my 34560 watt hours of Lithium we run x5 mini pc's all gamer level, x6 screens, Plus a Victron CerboGX on an Odroid Xu4 watching my solar setup. Pretty much all of it came from your recommendations.

With all that running at once… It all only draws just under 450 watts! On my setup, I can run all of that for almost 77 hours without a charge of any kind. Its amazing how well I was able to budget the power, buy the lowest consumption, highest bang for the buck gear, all on your information in these videos. Your info is HIGHLY accurate. And allows me to still have that fully modern nerd lifestyle, while being totally offgrid for going on 6 years.

Thank you for the videos, and the information you provide. Seriously. The attention to detail and the specs and power consumption, stacked against seeing the actual performance under a real world scenario, is why I quite literally watch EVERY video you make.

ALL my Tiny Builds… Start here.

With minipc coming with ddr5 and 6000 apu I do not see why someone would even think on getting one of these.

  10. Billy

Great review. What Xbox type controller is pictured with the PC?

  11. Iceberg Tech

Could make a good Deskmini X300 alternative. How does the BIOS compare to the Asrock?

  12. Jesus Irizarry

Hey eta prime, do you have any solutions for gaming on a roku? I have a roku streambar, great videos by the way

  13. Mads

    Nice! Could've been even smaller

  14. The Prince

    Is the cpu upgrade possible?
Would it be possible to swap in a R7 5700G?

    Or swap in 5800x3d?
    Possible Egpu?

I know it sounds odd to ask just curious

  15. CrypticGamer

I really like the look and the performance on this little beast I would love for you to do a batocera showcase on this powerful little guy thanks for this video eta!

  16. Larry Breavman

Another obsolete Vega based product. 🙁
Better wait for the next generation based in RDNA 2, or try the new but larger Asrock Desk Meet which have a PCIe bay for graphic cards.

  17. charlie garcia

Nice video as ever, eta prime!! A question, which is better, this mini pc or minisforum hx90 with R9 5900HX? Thanks for yours answers!!

  18. Mazen Alzahrani

Please write the details on the video thumbnail e g. The CPU model etc…
So we can pick and choose what to see.

  19. Chrome Rims

Looks schweet-ne$$ but not sure about value for buck. TDP from the wall looks alright, thanks for always measuring it. Love these APU compacts.

  20. Tj Wolf

Any chance it could be upgraded to a Zen 4 APU next year? They seem to be AM5 only but, are there rumors they could come to AM4?

  21. PixelatedPaul

I don't see the point in dropping £700 on a non-upgradeable and unspectacular box however small it is. Much better off building a proper PC and upgrading it as you save more money.
