They’ve gone TOO FAR! PS5 Update

“How’s it going, everyone? As always, my name is Jimmy Champagne, and this is PS Ready, my channel all about PlayStation. In today’s video, I’ve got three great topics for you guys. First, an issue my PS5 is having. But after I researched it, it seems like a lot of launch PS5s are having this issue, so I’m going to tell you how to fix it. Second, we’re going to talk about this $130 new game and how gaming prices, in general, are getting absolutely ridiculous. And then, finally, I’m going to go over some of the physical game pickups I did this week. That one’s a new segment I’m just going to try out and see what you guys think.”

Issue with PS5’s Wi-Fi Chip:
“First up, I want to talk about this issue that I’ve been facing with the PS5. So, lately, I’ve been playing on my PS5 Slim here in the basement. I just like the atmosphere down here; I kind of set it up as my little man cave. But my brother has been staying at my house for the past week, and I wanted to play some Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. So, I’ve been using the PS5 upstairs, which is a launch edition disc model PlayStation 5. I’ve been trying to buy more physical games lately because I just have the strong feeling that they’re going to go away. I’ll talk about this more again later in the video, but I was at Target yesterday, and man, the game section was absolutely abysmal. They had like three or four games out, and it was just pitiful.”

Wi-Fi Connection Issue:
“But my copy of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is digital, and the issue I’ve been facing is that my PS5’s Wi-Fi chip has been acting really weird. When I moved into this house last year, the first thing I did was set up the internet. I got AT&T’s fiber, so it’s like a gig up and down, and then I got two of their smart home extenders that actually do a really good job of making sure I get at least 600 to 800 up and down anywhere inside my house.”

Attempts to Fix the Issue:
“I’ve tried a bunch of things to fix this issue as well, like I restarted my PS5 from cold, like I did the full restart, not just putting it in rest mode and turning it back on. I’ve completely powered it down, unplugged it to cycle the power, plugged it back in. I tried resetting my internet by both using the AT&T app to power it down and restart it. And I’ve even come down here, unplugged the router, plugged it back in, made sure I unplugged the smart home extenders, plug them back in, get the network back up and running. And that’s where I’ve had the best luck, kind of. I would say like that works again for like an hour or two, but it still always comes back.”

Community Experiences and Possible Solutions:
“I went to my favorite place for tech support, the PlayStation 5 subreddit, and I was honestly shocked how many people are having this issue. And it’s not just with these AT&T home setups; people on Xfinity, people on Spectrum, people on Verizon, people on even Starlink are having this issue. And thankfully, I was able to find a solution that mostly works, but after a while of putting my PS5 in and out of rest mode, the issue really just comes right back.”

Concerns About Warranty and Solutions:
“So, I think my next step is to utilize my PlayStation Stars status and connect to Sony support and try to get this issue fixed. I’m really hoping they’ll do it for free, but I’m honestly kind of worried because my PS5 is obviously 4 years old, and that means it’s completely out of warranty.”

Criticism of License Checking on PS5:
“The network issue is annoying for sure, but the real annoyance here comes down to the license checking on the PS5. I genuinely don’t understand why it’s that aggressive where every time you’re playing the game, it periodically checks to see if you have the license. To me, that’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Discussion on Game Prices:
“Another thing that I think needs to be addressed is the price on some of these new games that are coming out. So, all this controversy is surrounding Star Wars Outlaws, and on the surface, it’s not really that hard to figure out why this game is controversial.”

Conclusion and Physical Game Pickups:
“I want to round out this video with something positive, though, which is my new physical game pickups. So, yesterday I was at Target. I decided to check out the video game section to pick up Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth because of that digital issue I’ve been having on the PlayStation 5. And I’m really happy with the quality of this physical release.”

$130!? Yeah, right.

PS5 Network Issue and How to Fix it

$130 Games are Here… Woof

https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/04/usd130-version-of-star-wars-outlaws-under-fire-as-ubisoft-prices-increase

So, what do you get for almost the cost of two full-price PS5 games?

The base game is bundled with its season pass — which will add two story-focused expansions after launch

Two cosmetic packs for protagonist Kay, her spaceship, and other vehicles, a digital artbook

The chance to play the game three days early, from 27th August 2024.

With the base game set at $70 and the Gold Edition costing $110, it means Ubisoft reckons the early access and season pass are worth $40. Those extra cosmetic packs and the digital art book then add an extra $20 to the overall price.

They could keep discs if they made all of them ultra hd blu ray

  2. @jakeporter195

Well sony, as a great hardware company, should just give and partner with microsoft's software teams as most people and the internet have said there really isn't a console war anymore.

  3. @Darkstar301

Well I can’t really say but so far I haven’t had any problems yet not saying it won’t happen but just saying not yet

  4. @mattjones2887

You should verify your original system is set to primary system because that one should work offline with no connection. My room system has to remain online at all time because it my secondary system but I never have a problem with the living room system if the internet goes down.

  5. Yes to physical games. I'm old school and have been gaming since the 90s. I have shelves for my books, pressed albums, CDs, and yes, video games. I've been around since the O.G. Nintendo and PC days and was fully sold on the first PlayStation, and I never looked back. People to this day (new or old) always ask about my physical games and like picking through them and reading the back. Great conversation starters plus always enjoy knowing I can pick one up and and still play it.

  6. @rpdee7344

4/18/24 My go to place for games I like is GameFly where I can read reviews and rating before purchasing used games at a great discount without breaking the bank, plus maybe get a game that looks interesting but does rate well on the cheap. I see no need to pay full price just to get it when it comes out, the saying "Good things come to those who can wait." has a lot of truth when purchasing from Ganefly new or used games.

  7. @ulisesrocha721

When I feel that strongly about a game I won’t buy it no matter how bad I want to play. A great example is Baldurs Gate and them not making a physical game for the PS5. If you don’t like what developers and PlayStation does let them know by not purchasing their mistakes!!!

  8. @jamesverona2295

Physical disc purchasing is getting harder. Rumor that target will stop selling physical discs by 2025

  9. Wanna fix your wifi? Get a cat6 ethernet cable and hook it up directly, that's the best way to hook your system up anyway

  10. @mortiarty7842

If sbi is involved in the game, don’t buy it, cause I’ll be stuffed with woke garbage and it will suck.

  11. It's cute how American complain about $130 game. In Canada the base is $95 gold edition $130 and ultimate edition is $160

  12. @AVClarke

I don't see why a corporation needs to keep checking if you own a game you purchased. To me, it says the corporation is saying you don't really "own" the game.

  13. @vitgerivaz

wait, this is news to me. FF VII is ALWAYS ONLINE? WHAT?!

  14. @c.daubz.5386

10:38 the fact you said you don’t have a problem with paying $70 for a damn past time wasting videogame is the problem, people have also started noticing that have paid attention, not to buy games for couple years after release to get a full copy with dlc at reasonable price 60-75% off

  15. @kyse2

nothing in my home has a disk drive

  16. @gabrielshepard

13:11 kinda makes you a hypocrite because one point your complaining about Ubisoft charging $130 for the early access & season pass…. but yet you buy a digital and physically (because the digital copy gave you issues). Stop and think about that for a second.

  17. @Geistman

Replacing WiFi chips and HDMI ports is our best business at the shop.

  18. @rebelsoldier284

The way I see it, the day we no longer have physical media, that's the day we stop actually owning our games.

  19. @jmcclain8237

I wouldn't be surprised if GTA 6 comes out at $ 120.00 for the base price.

  20. @DOOM-2027

I rent a digital game first if i enjoy it then i buy fiscal copy as backup because eventually it will be needed. I have the original xbox copies of GTA 3,VICE CITY & SA.

  21. @Subfightr

Why would anyone want to play a game 3 days early. Let alone on day one. It sounds stupid to even ask, but you are guaranteed to have THE absolute worst version of the game if you play on day one… Unfortunately 🙁

  22. @Subfightr

Ubisofts Prince of Persia The Lost Crown was great! If yall have any love of a metroidvania 2d fast paced side scroller, youll love this. Plenty of upgrades, it always feels fresh and challenging just enough. Some of the most impressive platform puzzles I've ever come across in my 35 years of playing video games.

  23. @Subfightr

Sorry about your wifi issue. Same thing happened to my ps4 pro. Damn puppy pulled the plug out of the wall while it was on, had to format and reinstall everything to at least make it work, but rhe wifi is super wonkey. Have you tried using only 2.4 or 5? I think mine ended up only working on 2.4.. ish.

  24. @buscoones9316

dope pick ups….. my latest physical pick ups were RE2 and RE3. Def need to get the FF7 remake.

  25. @THEONE954319

YOUR ARGUMENT IS SPOT ON. I AM NOT GOING TO MAKE MY COMMENT POLITICAL, BUT YOU SAID SOMETHING THAT STOOD OUT. THE ATMOSPHERE THAT THE GAMING COMMUNITY HIGHER UPS HAVE CREATED SUCKS AND IT IS GOING TO TAKE US THE CONSUMERS YOUNG AND OLDER TO TAKE A STAND. IF NOT BY THE TIME GTA6 comes out. We can be looking at $130 and upwards and cost for the game.

  26. Your opinions and criticism is 100 percent logical. Don't buy digital, don't support companies that don't support consumers. They need us not the other way around.

  27. @Basemoribito

You said you don't care about the xbox ecosystem so you should never speak on or buy a xbox system in the future because your comments about the xbox is completely bias so in future don't buy or speak about xbox in the future.

  28. @greenfeindgg

I haven't had an issue with my PS5 but mine is the 1115A model

  29. @zanithagreatest

ff16 was my first PS5 exclusive game, i enjoyed that very much, have to finish the dlc

  30. I miss cover Art! In the 80s and 90s I loved going to the store just to see all of the cover Art. Just like Game informer magazine I miss the art.

  31. I never had the license issue that your talking about that must suck really bad

  32. @wolver1n3x

PS has historically been an @$$ about licensing/sharing lets not talk about Nintendo they are literal poop about it. From personal family sharing in a home experience, Xbox handles sharing in a more family friendly way IMO.
We buy shared games on either steam about 70-80% on Steam the rest on xbox.

  33. @andresblake2813

Same issue I solved it by using a ethernet extender with more ethernet cord and I don’t have that issue anymore for the last 10 months. I kept getting disconnected my whole house Wi-Fi all the way through our fiber optic and my brother is a YouTuber. I was going insane with my PS five just constantly disconnected.

  34. @Zeitgeist6

8:27 Honestly Persia Of Persia: The Lost Crown is fantastic. I played the hell out of that. So addictive.

  35. @user-ht5zs1dx3q

$130 for a game that includes more than just the game.. not understanding the issue you arent buying it so why bash those other consumers..

  36. @LibertyTalk76

High five your motivation on purchasing physical copies.

PRO-TIP: How to fix WiFi problems… hard-wire it baby, ethernet is your friend! WiFi is garbage and competes with so many other devices in a modern home all running on 2.4/5 you are swimming in an EMF 'static' soup.

  37. @euden

Did they not release a physical version of FF7 Remake on PS5 in the US? because I know it exists and I can pick up a physical copy over here in the UK 🤔

  38. @elmozelf

I dOnT wAnT tO bUy DiGiTaL gAmEs 🤤 there is nothing that looks like a game on those discs.

  39. @Dronetothetop

Avoid spending $130 on the developers; there are literally thousands of other games available to play.
