I'm very happy with my Ryzen 5 3600. I'm using the stock air cooler. No liquid for me. Plus I hate tower coolers, they always get in the way of everything !! Don't Load W11 unless you like adverts . Go Linux.

  2. 3200Jii

Main thing to take here is the R5 5600 and RX 6600 with 16Gb 3200Mhz RAM budget combo
All other parts you can cut it down and depends on the availability in your area

  3. ARGENTVM

ahhh, how i miss the days when you could build an i5 3570K , a 660Ti and 2x4GB of RAM in dual channel in 2013 , then boot the thing up and everything ran on ultra settings 1080p 60fps stable, beating the PS4 and X1 comfortably.

    how times have changed.

  4. Atilolzz

I will watch this video again in 6 months and laugh about the price

In europe, can get a rx 6600 for only 450€! If buying higher end like rtx 3070 or rtx 3080 for 850€ and 1000€ respectively, not even 2x msrp! Such plummeting prices!

  6. I just built my wife:
5600x (was on sale for $209)
4x8gb corsair vengeance pro 3600 (had the kit lying around)
Msi b550 tomahawk (got it for $160 last fall never used bc i went itx on mine)
Sapphire nitro + 6600xt for $400 after taxes on newegg a couple weeks ago

    She loves it lol

It’s a good case but the fans are noisy. Get the cheaper Single fan model and use a Arctic P12 5-pack for 35 bucks additionally. This case does fit one 120 in the back, top and front 3x 140. I’d still prefer 2×120 front because a good part of the 140 will be blocked off by the mounting plate. Only use 140 if front mounted 280 radiator – a Arctic Liquid Freezer 280 fits if you cut off some plastic from the front panel. But it shortens gpu length to under 28cm

This mid tower is short so something like a 3080 founders and front mounted radiator won’t fit, because fans have to be mounted on the inside. If you need more space the P360A is a few cm longer and should make this possible

340$ for entry level GPU. Sorry but there is sweet fk all "budget" about it.
EDIT: It cost 450€ where I live, even more ridiculous.
"Budget build" has been dead for last few years and still is dead.

  9. Loc ta

@Hardware Unboxed Tim, you should have plug in the power, led, USB, and sound cables before you install the video card as it would made it easier for you to move your hands in the case when plugging in the cables.

  10. sergtrav

Ray tracing is more than impressive with RTX 3060 at 1080p/1440p and DLSS.

  11. SuperNorstShow

My budget parts list assumed a few things. 1.) Nvidia preference 2.) The need for alot of storage initially. I ended up with:

    R5 5600
    MSI B550 Tomahawk
    16GB Corsair LPX DDR4 3200
    Zotac RTX 3060
    2TB WD Black SN750
    Corsair 4000D
    Corsair CXM 650 PSU
    Asus TUF VG27AQ 1440p Monitor

  12. TransTechGirl

Great choices for this build, I built a very similar PC with a 5600X and the MSI B550 A-Pro a while ago and it has been a solid performer with a 3080FE.

  13. Conza

Yeah I actually install the PSU prior to even the motherboard. However I build first on the motherboard box, test that it boots, then, PSU goes into case, and it's pretty much just so I can pass in the CPU 8 pin, prior to installing the board, that's the only reason, then the GPU goes last just because it has to be after the motherboard.

  14. bolangbolong

For someone who won't upgrade anything except the GPU for the next 6 years probably, what motherboard should i pick?

  15. John Tera

please for the benchmark review gives power consumption comparison for both builds 🙁

  16. NOOOOOOOOO NOT THE MOUSE IN THE BIOS. You just lost all the respect I had for you. I hope you're happy. Teaching people the slowest and clunkiest way to navigate the BIOS.

  17. Mr Outcast

Ordered R5 5600 as upgrade for my R5 2600 – should arrive tomorrow. Finally reasonable price upgrade and to think just in January, R5 5600X was still 312€ here, now you basically get near the same CPU for 200€. Good I decided to wait out those ~3months, because back then selling current CPU and MOBO and getting i5-12400F + B660 was better option than just getting R5 5600X, now – upgrading to R5 5600 – is best option, which save a lot of unnecessary hassle.

  18. cptwhite

The music is a bit distracting, you need to find something that blends better into the background, Some retrowave, or chillout tends to work well. Greg Salazar always does a decent job with his selection. Might not be your "scene" but you need something that blends in better, in my opinion anyway. Otherwise good video 🙂

Edit: You also need to brush up your knowledge on budget cases, P300A, while decent, is a little long in the tooth now. I''d be pointing people to something with more pre-installed fans (Corsair 220T can currently be had in the UK for £70 with 3x aRGB fans), or something like the 4000D Airflow with some Arctic P12 fans.

  19. Logan Gardner

I kind of like how my MSI B450-A Pro (non-max, the original) has a basic bios with few graphical elements. I don't really care for MSI's "easy" mode in the bios I always seem to end up in the advanced menu and going through that with arrow keys and enter, esc keys, I like that a lot better. I've had very good luck with MSI the last few years though, it seems to be stable, affordable, and not fussy with RAM.

  20. Dinis

What about an AMD – NVIDIA PC?

  21. David Mendez

Hey this is my PC 😄 except I got the 6600XT and B550M

Good pc for the price, I have zero issues placing games at 1440p.

Cad work and 3D slicing for prints are fast enough not to be annoying 🤙

  22. C

    Great selection and guide Tim!

  23. Yraggul666

Rookie mistake with that side panel on…you got lucky tho…

  24. Alien Wanderer

When doing benchmarks please do so with multi tasks running, since this is a 6 core that mayyy be an issue

  25. VivaPapaya

6600XT would have been a better choice with this CPU.

  26. Greg Lee

You can buy a 3060 for the same price as the 6600 as of today. So either card would be a good option.

  27. I was listening to this in the background while working then suddenly stopped when I heard that there was an actual build going on.

BUILD VIDEOS ARE BACK ON THE MENU!

  28. Bauer

With prices coming down I can finally reconnect with my main hobby. I have been living in exhile with a Series S which to be fair has been a great distraction.

  29. Emmet

My old head tech shuddering at hearing the GPU is not the last to be put in.

  30. JJ

The only thing that gives me pause is that GPU lol, the rest of the build is great.

  31. Prox

    which one should i get?

    i5-11400F + B560m-a = 240$ / MYR950
    or
    R5 5500 + B560M-a/B550m ds3h = 250$ / MYR1000

    Pair with 3050/3060

I use for 1080p gaming, video editing and blender work

  32. sots 666

I refuse to pay 400 US dollars for a gpu slower than 5700xt!

  33. dug huff

I'm not sure I get the argument for using a third party cooler rather than sticking with the box cooler? Surely it would be more valid in a budget build to see which chip maker has the better offering included? (Ok, so it's budget mid range rather than actual low budget but still…)

  34. obelisk619

One thing I like best about Hardware Unboxed builds is that they never seem to ignore the aesthetics of the build even if budget constrained.

I would happily build an identical system, the clean black look with a touch of rgb really inspires me to just use and admire the system. (I would change the fans to non-rgb tho and probably get a different GPU, like a triple fan model like 6600xt/6700xt hellhound/red devil

  35. Andrey

Value ain't what it used to be. 😁😁

  36. mhh3

1100 bucks for a 1080p system? value build?
    1) no need for a 150$ mainboard
    2) no need for a 750w psu that costs whopping 120$
    3) if we are talking about a gaming build than the included cooler is already quiet when gaming
you could easily shave off 200 bucks.

  37. Adrian B

psu is overkill. a 6600 xt would fit nice in this build

  38. sots 666

I built my amd 3600 and 5600xt system, with 16gb 3200 ram and 550w seasonic psu for 400 dollars in February 2020. Just wait until parts go at least 50% off! PC building is a joke the last two years.

  39. Blahorga Slisk

It's frustrating how some markets struggles with high GPU prices. In Sweden the RX 6600 Mech is about $20 cheaper than a RTX 3060 Ti Ventus also from MSI, and yes those are the cheapest of each category. Given the very slight price difference I'd be hard pressed to go with the RX 6600 given the choice. I'll add that I'm using a 1440p monitor and the RTX 3060 Ti tends to perform better, relatively, compared to the RX 6600 at 1440p than it does at 1080. Still at 1080 the 3060 Ti claws back a lot of the massive performance advantage the 6600 has over the plain 3060 in some games.

Now if prices were even close to what they are in the US then the RX 6600 would look a lot more interesting.
