The issue with the 14.2” display is that it is not 15.3” in size. Having got a 15” Macbook Air I cannot go down to a smaller screen size. My aging eyes benefit from being able to have the resolution at 1440×932 while the sharpness of the text is still great.
I bought mine (M3 pro, 12 core cpu, 1TB) brand new on Ebay for $500 less than new and $150 less than refurbished… SCORE!!!
OK… so I bought a "refurbished" Mac Mini (M1) for my Dad last year. I now have it and its waiting its turn on the network. I have a M1 Air but at 13" its EASY to carry from place to place but lacks video editig power.. SO.. on YOUR advise, I bought a "Refurbished" MacBook Pro (October 2023) w/16GB. It will arrive Wednesday.
We are going to travel in a couple of weeks and Ill let you know how it holds up.. Im SURE it will be a GREAT addition to my Mac Addiction..

Haha, my recently purchased MBA laughs at your MBP. Mine was also $1359. M2 13" MBA, but with 24Gb/512Gb. All the RAM the MBA can swallow, and the non-Nerfed storage. After testing two 8Gb models, I felt sure that "the more RAM, the better." I never saw thermlog indicate throttling even with 30 minutes of Cinebench cooking. Confirmed, Houston, when macOS had all the RAM it can dream of for caching, the entire system starts running super fast … even seemingly after a restart (cached files are persistent? =:o ).
Yes, you need to keep watching the refurb list, daily even. The models I was interested in kept appearing then disappearing. One morning, I added one of these to the "shopping bag," took a shower, and came back to find it out of stock again. D'oh! But if you analyze the prices, you can find that the usual $200 upcharge on RAM and storage varies from $130-$170 depending upon the model. In my purchase, the 8Gb boost from 16Gb to 24Gb was only $70 more. Sa-weet! If you know what you want, when you see it, nab it.
P.S. I asked an Apple support rep why the "new battery, new chassis" is specified on teh Apple Certified Refurbished page, but not about MBs. I was told that the "new battery, new chassis" process step applies to MBs as well as . o/.
P.P.S. There is a 14-day return window, so check your refurb out promptly and thoroughly.
P.P.P.S. If you buy with an Apple Card, you should see your total purchase price lightened up by $30-$50.

Nice….but consider: For a small shop videographer / photographer, the Apple refurb store has the Mac Studio for just over $1500.00 (as of 5-5-24). M1 Max…10 core….32GB Unified Men…..512 SSD…..24 core GPU…..That's a spicy meatball. Since I use an iPad Air 5 for portable stuff, I am tempted to upgrade from my current base M1 Mini.

Hi Greg! I use MacBook 14” M1 Pro but I need secondary MacBook probably bigger display. I am so tempted by MacBook Air 15 or MacBook Pro 16. I know both have their advantages and disadvantages but which one would you buy for yourself if you were me ??
Excellent points! I feel like today has been catch up on Greg's videos today then this one popped up as well 🙂 My wife chose the M3 Air over this just because of the size and possibly the color, lol. After switching from a 16" Pro I would say that 14" is my favorite, portable and fits almost anywhere.
I've had many refurbished Macs over the years and they all have been great so I am a fan. Plus being able to get AppleCare I don't worry is something go bad, it's covered. What I have heard is Apple doesn't do the refurbishing they have a 3rd party vendor that does it for them, so that's who you need to find out how they clean the keyboard so well.
I bought a refurbished Macbook Pro 512 ssd AND 16 GB memory for $1376 ( military veteran discount). Such a deal. I was thinking of Macbook Air until this. Keep checking for updated supplies.

Two notes as someone who used to do tech support for Apple. One Apple replaces all the touch surfaces of refurbished devices and two to clean your devices alcohol wipes work great
